my nan married an italian giovanni chiappori, therefore had to register as an alien.
on ancestry you can get the record up and it says it includes additional info. my nans nane was ellen chiappori, her alien record was 13th oct 1916. can someone look up this info and send me any additional info that is registered or even giovanni's record??? thanks sandra

I'm not seeing what you have seen when I search!

I don't see how an Englishwoman marrying an Italian would become an alien, but perhaps someone else can explain ......

Nothing about alien records on Ancestry

It could be because she would have been assumed to have taken her husband's nationality.

There are a 6 Chiapporis listed on the U.S. Naturalization Record Indexes, 1791-1992 (Indexed in World Archives Project) but as the title says, they are in the USA

Sometimes Ancestry leads you to believe that it has found matches in parts of the records you may not subscribe to, when the records are actually viewed they are tenuous to say the least.

There may be someone somewhere in the world with a name a bit like Chiappori who was naturalised on that date and it will include it in your search results or hints.

EDIT: Nothing coming up on a search of alien registrations on the National Archives.

hi thanks for your replies. there is a section in ancestry where you can check the listed people, i have the certificate of my nan registered as an alien, you have to look for the date first then see if she is on the list. it says it does have additional info but you have to be a worldwide member and i only have standard membership. from the info you have given me you have the right person.. i was just curious as to if there was more info then i already have

Where is she registered as an alien in 1916? If you require a ww membership, then I presume this must be outside the UK

is there any way of finding out giovanni chiappori's family in italy born 1874, we have found a giuseppe chiappori who lives in a different part of the uk, but not sure if they were brothers.... giovanni was part of sangers circus and married ellen in 1909.... ellen had 2 children prince edward james bristow and mabel bristow before marrying giovanni, i have no clue if giovanni was their dad or they had a different dad. and why was he named prince??? can you help me further???
