Hi there, my relation, Hannah Ward, was born in 1844 in Stockton. Her husband was Robert Ward who had died by 1891, when she has a twenty-two year old plater's helper staying at her house. He is Hugh Russell, and he is described as a 'relative', and he was born in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham.

I am looking for Hannah in the 1901 and 1911 census. Her daughters were:

EDIT, though her surname is given as Ward, Amelia is described as married for 11 yrs with 4 living children out of four born, maybe the Flewkers are hers?

Francis and Maria Edward have 1 child living out of 3 born.

Hey Kutchina, no her age is only two years out?! Is that correct?!

What relation are the FLEWKERS?! I assume grandchildren. And may I ask for the birth places of the people mentioned (sorry to be a pain)! No rush if you can't do it now, and no problem if you can't do it at all!

Just to add, Hannah's marriage details were crossed out in census 1911, as she was a widow, but they stated she was married 42 years (presumably 42 yrs ago from 1911), had 11 children of the marriage, of whom only 5 were still living.

Oh wow - that is very helpful to know about Hannah's marriage and children! But how awful for the poor woman. She also had a brother and sister-in-law committed to asylums and their medical reports are not easy reading.

And yes, your assumption is correct - Hannah was married in 1868.

Her poor daughter Maria Edwards had 3 children from her 7 year marriage, and had lost two by 1911.

I wonder where the other two Flewker grandchildren were in 1911? Only two are listed, but the image says four children born and four still living.

I'm having difficulty finding a suitable death for Robert Ward, Hannah's husband ... can you help here?

I guess it depends on how accurate Mary Jane's age is?

Sorry, what do you mean in regards to Mary Jane's birth? I am looking for her but having difficulty ... quite a few options. And a possible death for Lavinia in 1929 in Middlesbrough but it is 10 years out. However, I can't see any other likely marriage or death.

You posted Mary Jane as born 1889, which is a little late for a father who died last qtr 1887.

However she is 13 in census 1901, with a possible birth year of 1888, which is feasible for a posthumous child.

Middlesborough reg district covered Thornaby, which is where most of the children seem to have been born.

Ah now I understand. Excuse me!

And Rose sadly died from her clothes catching fire. Her mother, Hannah, was out hawking pots, and her sister Mrs Wincup was with her. What sad lives. (The North-Eastern Daily Gazette (Middlesbrough, England), Saturday, November 30, 1896.)
