That's great. It eliminates the death anyway.

Thank you!

I think this could be the Lavinia who died in 1929, ie not your Lavinia, living in Middlesborough area in 1911.

Can't find your lass at the moment

It all seems to fit! Obviously need to get marriage cert to confirm.

Also, I said yesterday I found a death for a Lavinia Ward in 1929 in Middlesbrough. It was 10 years out! But I can't find anything else for her. Can you see if she is single in the 1911?

Thank you again!

Yes me too! I found that death and another in the Middlesbrough. I can easily email the register office to confirm.

Also, I think this may be a marriage of one of her daughters. Can I ask for a look-up here also?

Thank you:

Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1932
Age at Death: 88
Registration district: Middlesbrough
Inferred County: Yorkshire North Riding

Right sort of age, and right reg district for Thornaby where she was last seen in 1911 census, though obviously she could have moved on since then.

I'm also struggling with Sam(uel) W(h)incup.

Peter

Peter Report 6 Oct 2012 14:45

Ah thank you again!

So Margaret suffered a lot of deaths also. Such sad lives.

Can you see a death for Hannah Ward? I have found possibles but struggled for her and Sam Whincup.

And Rose sadly died from her clothes catching fire. Her mother, Hannah, was out hawking pots, and her sister Mrs Wincup was with her. What sad lives. (The North-Eastern Daily Gazette (Middlesbrough, England), Saturday, November 30, 1896.)

Can I now ask for a look-up for Mrs Wincup:

Ah now I understand. Excuse me!

Kucinta

Kucinta Report 5 Oct 2012 23:09

You posted Mary Jane as born 1889, which is a little late for a father who died last qtr 1887.

However she is 13 in census 1901, with a possible birth year of 1888, which is feasible for a posthumous child.

Middlesborough reg district covered Thornaby, which is where most of the children seem to have been born.

Peter

Peter Report 5 Oct 2012 23:02

Thank you for the death - I should probably call it a night. I missed that one but was looking in Stockton district (as the registers are with them currently).

Sorry, what do you mean in regards to Mary Jane's birth? I am looking for her but having difficulty ... quite a few options. And a possible death for Lavinia in 1929 in Middlesbrough but it is 10 years out. However, I can't see any other likely marriage or death.

Kucinta

Kucinta Report 5 Oct 2012 22:41

I guess it depends on how accurate Mary Jane's age is?

I'm having difficulty finding a suitable death for Robert Ward, Hannah's husband ... can you help here?

Kucinta

Kucinta Report 5 Oct 2012 22:29

Her poor daughter Maria Edwards had 3 children from her 7 year marriage, and had lost two by 1911.

I wonder where the other two Flewker grandchildren were in 1911? Only two are listed, but the image says four children born and four still living.

Peter

Peter Report 5 Oct 2012 22:26

And yes, your assumption is correct - Hannah was married in 1868.

Peter

Peter Report 5 Oct 2012 22:23

Oh wow - that is very helpful to know about Hannah's marriage and children! But how awful for the poor woman. She also had a brother and sister-in-law committed to asylums and their medical reports are not easy reading.

Kucinta

Kucinta Report 5 Oct 2012 22:19

Just to add, Hannah's marriage details were crossed out in census 1911, as she was a widow, but they stated she was married 42 years (presumably 42 yrs ago from 1911), had 11 children of the marriage, of whom only 5 were still living.
