There's a family tree on A* with 10 children (including John) so I suspect the dead child may have been born and died between census years. It has nothing after 1901 for John though. |

I can contact them if you wish. You can't make contact without a membership, but they don't have anything on John after 1901 though. |

OK, message sent to the tree owner on A* (Stephen Howes) - he is an active member so hopefully will make contact direct to your e-mail address. He, and another member, has the mother as Jemima Martin, but the other member has only researched one of their children and has no details for the rest of them. |

How and why are you researching John please? Just not clear how you've got back to him, but it would help to know. |

That's possible Flip, I'd tied the death in to the 1884 birth posted further up |

So looking at the possible births of the same name; |

I would agree with that being the most likely death. Unfortunately no probate though. The one in 1963 grants probete to wife Emma Mabel (Brown) - married Yarmouth 1914 - so that marriage can also be ruled out. |

According to 1901 census he was a soldier - there's nothing on A* military records, wonder if it is worth checking FMP to see if they have his enlistment & record - or are there other sites? |
