According to reliable Family Rumour , Wallace was the father of my illegitimate grandfather , Frank Vincent Bean , and I've recently joined to try and find out anything I can about him . Born 1864 Botesdale , he apparently married Mary Hughes of Ontario Canada 29/12/1886 . I've traced immediate family history , but he only appears in 1871 and 1881 census . Can anyone help ? ( especially in Canada ) Thanks . Adrian

Hi Adrian,

Welcome to the boards.....

When was Frank Vincent Bean born? As you will be aware, unless Wallace is actually on the birth certificate then there is no proof that he is the father.

You mention a marriage to Mary, but you do not say where this marriage happened? I also assume you mean the UK 1871, 1881 ER?

Gertrude is on the 1901 census with her sister. She marries about 1906 according to the 1911 census - Name 'Cossy'

I cant find her returning either? I think it is a different woman on the passenger list that you post?

Blimey - I nip away for an hour , and suddenly there's all this information ! Looks like Genes Reunited people are really nice and helpful . Yes , my grandfather was Frank Vincent bean , 1881 Botesdale (Frank ernest 1921 was my dad ) . According to the Bury and Norwich Post on .29/12/1886 , Wallace married Mary Hughes at J Race Church Lancaster Ontario . Ipswich Journal 24/2/87 says that Samuel B Vincent ( his father ) died 19/2/87 so presumably he didn't travel . Geretrude Alice and Ellen were sisters .Two were spinsters9 buried in Rickinghall churchyard , near Botesdale ) but Gertrude married The Passenger list from Tracey is something I hadn't seem before . And the death at York looks interesting . If this was my ancestor then it may well be there were no descendants at all from that line .
According to two of my grandfather's uncles before they died , , Wallace certainly was the chap responsible and my great grand mother( Fanny Isabella ) deliberately named him Vincent to make it well known !!
So , Yes , that;'s a lot more info .
As this is the first time I've posted anything , THANK YOU , and Sorry if I've not followed any usual polite procedures for this sort of thing .
Mike , Tracey , Gins - I'll be back and chat with you properly .

I live very close to Lancaster, Ontario, actually I was just there a few days ago.

I can't imagine what is referred to by J Race Church. There is a St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church and St. Joseph's Catholic Church
