Minnie was the daughter of Eliza and Joseph Middleton, they went on to have a further 6 children (that is verified).

I agree it is probably best to verify things yourself as opposed to taking things at face value from trees. I have also found some really silly things on trees but it is difficult to differentiate when you have no information to work from.

Thank for everyone's help with this.

Are you certain sure Minnie was Josephs as she was born a few years before they wed??
Does it say on her birth cert he is the father?

Happy hunting.

Oh I see, she has been registered as Weldrick as opposed to Middleton.

I know this will appear to be a stupid question to the more experienced users of the site, but what does it mean when the census refers to someone as a poorman?

He would have been on Parish relief and not in work I believe....I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong... :-D

Yes Eliza is not mentioned on the 1861 census, it may be that she married Joseph Middleton and then went back for Minnie at a later date.
