My grandmother's sister, Winnie, immigrated to Canada before WWII. I don't know her married name or the exact date but she went to Quebec and had at least 5 children: Violet, Douglas, Pearl, Ruby and Percy. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I would appreciate help in tracing my Canadian relatives. Thank you.

Look for her in 'search all trees' as a first step

Where and when was she born?

Did she marry before emigrating?

If so...........find the record on freebmd

Where were the children born?

Is she in your GR tree?

Hello Sheila, welcome to the boards.

As she was your gran's sister then you must know her maiden name. You must give us some basic info to work from if we're to help you. :-)

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 13 Aug 2013 22:45

The OP says that she doesn't know the married name......so Child must be the maiden name

Only finding one birth and marriage as Winnie on FreeBMD

MarieCeleste Report 13 Aug 2013 22:48

Yes of course, I was reading it as though Winnie was a child who went to Canada.

My excuse is that it's been a loooong day.

Was Winnie a nickname or Winifred

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 13 Aug 2013 22:52

Scrub that birth - and the marriage

Children born to the couple have completely different names from those quoted.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 13 Aug 2013 22:53

Sure to have been Winifred..............

If the OP returns, perhaps she'll be able to give some useful info..............like dates, and location

Yes, Child was her maiden name. Her full name was probably Winifred and her date of birth was probably 1891. I don't have her married name or the date she came to Canada. Thanks for all the helpful advice.

Who was her sister?

Who were their parents?

Where did they live?

Please tell us ALL you know......................

Born 1891 but came to Canada before WW2? How long before WW2? Surely then her children were all born in UK? She would have been 48 at the onset of WW2.

The way to finding Winnie is to know

Where and when was she born?

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 14 Aug 2013 11:48
