Hi Cherilyn,

Yes that fit's for James Richardson Snr's birth year

Helen/Ellen's parents were Robert and Mary. She died 1950

Yes that's Robert (Bert) McMillan Richardson's death.

Thanks for your help.

Cherilyn

Cherilyn Report 6 Nov 2013 05:03

Son's death:
23098/1966 RICHARDSON / ROBERT MCMILLAN / JAMES / ELLEN MARY / BOOLAROO

Cherilyn

Cherilyn Report 6 Nov 2013 05:02

What were Helen/Ellen's parents given names?

Cherilyn

Cherilyn Report 6 Nov 2013 05:01

Jas who died in 1948 was 74, so born c1874 - does that fit?

MarieCeleste Report 3 Nov 2013 17:09

I guess it's highly likely David.

I haven't yet found their marriage - there were a lot of James Richardsons in NSW and it's possible that Jean wasn't her given name (same way as Bert was Robert McMillan)

Will post if I find it.

Marie Celeste

Isa Jane Forrester was born in Alva Clackmannanshire in 1905

Mary Allan Main Eadie was born in Windygates, Fife in 1915

Ernest Hutchinson was born in Ratho, Midlothian in 1904

I bet James wife, Jean was born in Scotland too!!

David

David Report 3 Nov 2013 13:56

Marie Celeste, this is all extraordinary marvellous stuff.

Yes, seems a fourth child Bert who married Mary and had children Ellen and Alex

James married Jean and had family it seems, and it apprears Ron and Isa had family too.

From knowing nothing I now know quite a bit, thanks to your superb efforts!

Marie Celeste, this is all extraordinary, marvellous stuff.

You are right it looks like a further child Bert, who must have been born in NSW! Seems he married a Mary and their children were Ellen and Alex?

And James Jnr married Jean

From knowing nothing of them, I now know quite a bit, thanks to your efforts!

I think the middle name on this marriage is a mistranscription:

9608/1938 RICHARDSON, ROBERT MCKILLAN married EADIE, MARY ALLAN MAIN at CESSNOCK

This is Robert's wife to be in 1937:

Australia, Electoral Rolls, 1903-1980

Name: Mary Allan Main Eadie
Gender: Female
Electoral Year: 1937
State: New South Wales
District: Hunter
Subdistrict: Cessnock

A laundress, living 8 Gallagher Street (so that's how they met) with Alexander, a miner and Mary - presumably parents

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 3 Nov 2013 13:08

Have just rechecked the 1936 Electoral Rolls and there is a Robert McMillan Richardson at 7 Gallagher Street, no occupation - he must be the son "Bert" and be born after their arrival in Australia, he was obviously not old enough to be included on the 1930 voters list so born c1915ish.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 3 Nov 2013 12:56

It looks like Jean was James jnr's wife - there are some memoriam notices here from each of the family on the anniversary of James snr's death

The Cessnock Eagle and South Maitland Recorder, Friday 20 June 1952

There was also a son Bert??

Australia, Electoral Rolls, 1903-1980
Name: James Richardson
Gender: Male
Electoral Year: 1930
State: New South Wales
District: Hunter
Subdistrict: Cessnock

Living at 7 Gallagher Street is James snr, a waste examiner; James jnr a wheeler and Ellen McMillan Richardson, home duties.

ADDED: by 1936 there is a Jean Richardson with them at Gallagher Street. I don't know if that's a wife for James jnr or a younger sibling who has become old enough to vote.

Isa's arrival in Australia

New South Wales, Australia, Unassisted Immigrant Passenger Lists, 1826-1922
Name: Miss Isa Forrester
Port of Departure: Bremen
Port of Arrival: Sydney, New South Wales
Voyage Arrival Date: 25 Jul 1912
Vessel Name: Zieten

Travelling with parents Charles and Margaret, a separate similar record confirms they were Scottish and she was born 1905.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 3 Nov 2013 12:26

This would be Ronald's marriage:

Australia Marriage Index, 1788-1950

Name: Isa Forrester
Spouse Name: Ronald C Richardson
Marriage Date: 1926
Marriage Place: New South Wales
Registration Place: Cessnock, New South Wales
Registration Year: 1926
Registration number: 2890

There's a mention of Isa here, probably in relation to her father's death

Hello David, I have worldwide subs to Ancestry and FindMyPast so happy to look up records on there.

I'd suggest going to your first post and clicking on "Edit" so you can get back to your heading - add the word Australia to the title and that way one of the researchers who specialises in Oz records (and may have access to more records than my subs cover) will be more likely to spot it.

Meanwhile, check out Trove, the Oz newspaper archive http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper?q= and NSW BMDs http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/bdm_fh.html

There are also some Australian records on FamilySearch

Electoral Year: 1930
State: New South Wales
District: Hunter
Subdistrict: Cessnock

A miner, living Church Street. Also listed in Church Street is an Isa Jane Richardson.

Marie Celeste, thank you so much. What a find! You are a wee gem! Well done Reggie too for the suggestion!

OMG, this is brilliant, it is clearly them. James' parents were Robert and Annie, and Helen (Ellen's) parents were Robert and Mary.

I'm afaid I don't have access to worldwide records, can you please guide me there.

Thank you again, I have been looking for them for about 5 years!
