Hi Helpers
I wish to find parents of Sarah Elizabeth Bruce b1867 Thornton Yorkshire (Halifax).
She married John Barrett in 1892 and I have some census of them together.
I have searched some census prior to marriage but can't confirm.
Trying to save myself yet another purchase of birth cert.
Your time is appreciated.

Also her birth on BMD's. She is mother of Eliza Jane Barrett and is a witness on that m-cert.

That marriage was in London are you sure it is for someone born Yorkshire?

There is only one Sarah Elizabeth Bruce in the births born around that time

Buy a copy of the marriage cert......if she knew her father, he will be named

You can't even be certain that Bruce was her maiden name until you see the cert

I guess it's poss she had a previous marriage but the marriage to John Barrett has her as surname Bruce.
Think I will have to splash out for her b-cert to be sure.

How do you know that the witness on Eliza's marriage cert was her mother?

........relationships (if any) of witnesses to the couple are not recorded............

Why do you think that the 1892 marriage is for Eliza's parents?

It would be helpful if you posted the census info you say you have found...................we're working 'blind' at the moment
