Hi Brian,

See my post to you dated 23 Jan time 9.25 where I said the admission and Discharge Register's covering the years 1911-1919 are missing so no help there.
I've also had a look at the Creed Registers for the Scattered Homes where children were also sent and she's not in them. There are no other records for children's homes that I can find at Nottingham Archives but I'm still looking.

Hi Wendy,

Thank you for that, it could be that we are at the end of the line with info about Mary Annie. We really appreciate your help in this and we will be keeping our eyes open for anything we may find.

Regards,

Brian.

Brian, you say William disappeared and did not appear on any census - but he's on 1911 (age 32) along with his brother James (28), both carters. They along with 7 other men are all "visitors" at 45 Red Lion Street, Nottingham (South East).

He is down as single. It looks like it could be a boarding house and someone not on the census record signed the form - maybe the landlord?

There a few other things you could check out for William. There's a possible marriage in Nottingham 1916 to Elizabeth A Salmond, also a child born 1920, Violetta. Possible death, although age 2 years out, in Nottingham in 1939. All are on freebmd.

Hi Flip,

Thanks for the info which will possibly enable me to get a little closer to William, will now also search Elizabeth Salmond and any other possible children. Have not used freebmd previously, but doesn't mean I can't in future!!

Thanks for that reminder about freebmd Flip, I seem to think I had used it some years ago but forgot all about it after a previous absence from the tree. Now you may have to hold my hand on this, but which web site are you using to get census info about William Huthwaite? I've tried the 1911 census search facility on GenesRU for William and have drawn a blank each time.

You must know something about this that I don't!! (which may not be too hard!!)

I have researched his second marriage to Elizabeth Salmond thoroughly and have come up with four children and also a direct link to another contact on GReU and this was with the help of freebmd.

Brian.

I found the census on ancestry - I'll find it again and PM the census image to you.

Check your messages, image has been sent. After looking at it, it actually says he is married (12 years), has had 4 children but 1 has died - although this is crossed out as it shouldn't have been recorded.

I'm sorry for the delay in saying thank you Flip for the census image which we found very interesting. My wife may start using ancestry.com for her own tree which will give us a better chance of finding info. Thanks for the tip.

Brian.
