Find Ancestors

A few weeks ago people helped me with this family and I now have the birth certs of two of Robert Henry's children. The problem now is I can't find his marriage anywhere. The children were Emilie Mary Cocking, born in Cardiff in 1883 and Henry Morgan Cocking, born in Cardiff in 1886. Father Robert Henry was a marine engineer and the mother was Emilie Louisa, formerly Lewis. She appears on the 1911 census as Emily.

Robert Henry died in 1904 but Emilie is on the 1911 census with her daughter, a widow and her children and grandchildren. Interestingly, she has filled in the number of years married as 30 years and then crossed it out with a line through it. I'm thinking that the 30 years were up to when Robert died but I can't find a marriage for these two at any time. Emilie was Cardiff born and bred so I started looking there but have now looked anywhere in the country - England and Wales - and can't find them. I'd be grateful if someone with a minute can take a peek, please.

So saying married 30 years on the 1911 census covers the marriage being pre the birth of Emily M b1884

Well . Doesn't look like there was a marriage

Which dau is with Emilie on the 1911 please?

Thanks, both, yes I have those censuses. Kind people on here found those for me a while ago. I'm assuming Emilie was counting the 30 years back from when Henry died so that would make the marriage around 1881ish. I'm beginning to think they weren't married at all. The trouble is Cocking appears as Cooking, Cockin and Emilie's daughter, also Emily, married as Coggin.

Had a phone call from my mother whose stair lift has stopped working and she's stuck upstairs. She's also fused the lights. Back soon - I hope!
