Hi everyone
I am trying very hard to find the parents of Eliza Chamberlain born June Quarter 1855 Radford she married William Jessop Sleaford Dec Quarter 1883. I am also trying to find out what relationship she is to Charles Chamberlain 1901 census born 1862 Drayton and in 1901 living in Wilsford I would appreciate any information

Seems possible as Nottingham is the key wonder where Charles Chamberlain fits in as I have a letter 100 years old that mentions him I thought it May be her brother?

Interesting as all the family of charles chamberlains in the 1901 census in wilsford are mentioned in this letter and yet all your information fits perfectly with Eliza I suppose she would have been in service etc in the 1871 census

The Annie Chamberlain one I mean she is in the letter as well and referred to as Aunty Annie which led me to believe she was a sister in law to Eliza

Who is the letter to and from, Enid?

Tracker

Tracker Report 9 Feb 2014 18:12

The letter is from Eliza to he son Samuel Jessop who is in the trenches Dec 1914 she writes about Aunt Annie Harold and young Charles and Wilsford

Tracker

Tracker Report 9 Feb 2014 18:15

We also find the mention of Ratcliffe Hall very interesting because the letter is written by a woman who is very articulate and well schooled beautiful writing uncommon for women in 1914

Yes this is the Eliza who wrote the letter now the Caroline Chamberlan in this census is who? The Chamberlains at Wilsford above have a grave next to the Jessops immediately above tihis and we understand they purchased the plot or the Jessop's annoyingly just can't find the connection between the two Chambelain families

I am not so sure that it was so unusual for a woman in 1914 to have beautifuil handwriting - I suppose it would really depend on her 'station' in life ??

Do you want to give the details from the letter so that we might be able to help further?
