I am trying to find the death information on my grandfather James Sim. and any further information the death cert has.He was born in 1882 in Jarrow, England and did in 1941 in Geelong Victoria I think. If I can find a reference number I will order his death certificate. He married Beatrice Deakin (Armstrong) in Australia

Looks like James waited until all his children were grown up before he emigrated.

Thank you so much, I have been searching for his death certificate number so I can now purchase it. His first wife was Eleanor Bates and he had 3 children to the marriage, Eleanor died in 1913. James emmigrated to australia and also bought over Beatrice and her children (including one child of james/Beatrice another James.

James was also the son of George and Jane Sim

I also had the details that he was born abt 1882 in south shields so that date is great. I have another problem with the same family but will put it out there on another thread

Sorry if I am going to confuse anyone but I am really trying to get my head around this.

James Sim (Snr) born 1882 south shields Son of George and Jane Sim married Eleanor Bates had 3 children,
eleanor died in 1913

Eleanor 1900 Lancashire (don't know death), Married John Thomas in Lancashire in 1923 have 2 possible children for her but cannot confirm any ??

Annie 1902 Lancashire married Eric Power 1926 died 1967 had daughter Patricia who born and died 1928

James 1904 Lancashire. Some trees say he married May Pugh in 1921 in Salford, these trees also say he had 2 children but I cannot confirm them. But...

James Sim Snr met Beatrice who had 3 children and decided to emmigrate to Australia (see last post) and marry Beatrice in Australia in 1927.

He traveled to Australia to have a look around (this record below) but according to these records James Sim Jr 1904 went along as well.

Find My Past image: says
Mr Jas Sim age 51 and Jas Sim Junr age 19 both of 4 Mona Terrace, Aston on Mersey departed on the 'Osterley' bound for Melbourne Australia on 20 July 1923.

I have found James sim snr returning to UK -probably to organise Beatrice who was now pregnant with another son called George James born 1925 in Manchester (know as James again)and then James Sim snr travelled back to Australia in 1924 on the Morton Bay. Beatrice and family followed a year later

Questions I am asking


Did James Sim 1904 son of James Sim snr and Eleanor Bates marry May Pugh?

If James Sim 1904 travelled to Victoria Australia in 1923 with his father like the ship record shows what happened to him. Did he return to England? Did he die? Did he settle anywhere in Australia?

If I purchased James and Beatrice marriage cert would it tell me about his children? Can anyone tell me the relevant numbers for the victorian marriage Certificate?

I hope I haven't confused anyone too much

You need to buy the marriage cert for James to Mary Pugh which should list ages and both brides and grooms fathers names and occupation if known

Only buy certs from the GRO they cost £9.25 including P&P

I have never seen an ozzy marriage cert but i doubt it will list children,
