Edmond was Barrack St Major 40th MNI Poonamalle.
Son of Edmond Clarkson, Preston Yorkshire.
Alice Clarkson (Edmonds daughter) has a 94 year old grand daughter, alive in NZ, who is desperate for information on Alice and her family

Record says he was a widower, aged 39, a Garrison Sergeant major of Poonamallee and the son of Edmund Clarkson blacksmith of Preston, Yorkshire (deceased).

Phebe Cooper was an 18 yr old spinster from the Military O. Asylum {O for orphan's? ) daur of Thomas Cooper pensioner ??? 55th Regt (deceased)

has several baptisms for children of Edmund and Phebe, namely Mary Jane, Edmund Cooper Clarkson, Esther Clarkson , Ellen Clarkson and Emma Ann Clarkson. Presumably the son Edmund Cooper Clarkson is the same one who appears earlier in this thread.

Re the 1857 marriage of Richard H art and Alice Clarkson that Ann C posted, Richard was a bachelor and a private in the M 43rd (illegible initial) I

Presumably the something something Infantry, but not sure what the second initial was.

Possibly the Madras Native Infantry? But I'm guessing here.

Daur of Edmund Clarkson pensioned Sergt Major and Phebe his wife. Cause of death is hard to read but might be weekness (sic)

This might be a complete red herring as you don't say where Edmund is born, but we know he said at his 1846 marriage to Phebe Cooper his father was Edmund Clarkson blacksmith of Preston, Yorkshire (deceased).

Edmund was supposedly aged 39 in 1846, but he was marrying an 18 yr old so may have been flexible with his age....

Wensley is very close to a place called Preston under Scar.

Looking at the images of the baptisms of the children of Edmund Clarkson and Phenbe Cooper, it looks like Edmund was pensioned off sometime between the birth of Esther in 1856, and the birth of Ellen in 1859.

For Esther and the other children he is described as Garrison Sergt Major, but as previously stated in the birth and Death of Ellen, and death of wife Phebe. he is Pensioned Sergt Major.

James E F Vincent was a stoker on the railway.

EDIT: Son Edmond Cooper Clarkson (by Phebe )'s marriage to Agnes Caroline Vincent in 1874 had already been posted by alviegal. The FMP version of the marriage shows Agnes' father to be James Davis Vincent, so given James Edmond Foster Vincent's father is J D Vincent, it looks like a Clarkson brother and sister married a Vincent sister and brother.
