Martin Report 27 Jul 2014 07:23

I am searching for my grandmothers biological family.
Her birth name is Patricia Beale, at three years of age she was adopted by George & Millicent Knight.

I'm trying to locate any information regarding siblings she might have or any biological family.
Please if any one has any information even a hunch that would be much appreciated. :-)

Welcome to the boards, Martin.

Where and when was she born, please?

patchem

patchem Report 27 Jul 2014 07:51

Martin appears to have been born in 1961, place not specified, according to his tree, but that would give his mother's maiden name as Knight, so missing a generation.

Need some dates from Martin.

have you done any research, Martin?

freebmd is the place to start

patchem

not necessarily missing a generation

the grandmother may not have married

Ricochet

Ricochet Report 27 Jul 2014 09:06

Are these the adoptive parents?

England & Wales Marriages, 1538-1940
about George Charles Knight
Name:
George Charles Knight

Gender:
Male

Birth Date:
abt 1907

Age:
33

Father's Name:
William George Knight

Spouse's Name:
Millicent May Wicks

Spouse's Age:
26

Spouse's Father's Name:
Albert Wicks

Marriage Date:
9 Nov 1940

Marriage Place:
Colerne, Wiltshire, England

on second thoughts, a child adopted at age three sometime after 1940 would not be the grandmother of someone born in 1961

That said, there isn't another marriage of a George Knight to a Millicent other than one in 1842

Of course, we're assuming this relates to the Uk

it could be ANYWHERE in the world

patchem

patchem Report 27 Jul 2014 09:07

Ricochet,

That had occurred to me.

Problem is that when people on here are searching for 'grandparents' they can be born any time from 1880's (and before) to about 1960's, so my looking for marriages etc etc was spreading in all directions.

Always good to chew things over - sometimes helps to get the right result

we need martin to give more details

The timescale doesn't seem to 'gel'

Ricochet

Ricochet Report 27 Jul 2014 09:16

martin doesn't have patricia in his tree, which is a pity.

We could at least have got birth year from that, if nothing else

Ricochet

Ricochet Report 27 Jul 2014 09:22

I have a feeling that Patricia is martin's mother, and you are correct, patchem, to have reservations about the info he has provided

patricia knight married Arthur jervis in 1959 in Tonbridge district, and Arthur is in martin's tree

Hey everyone.
Sorry I haven't been on. All this Information is helpful.
Patricia knight is my mother. She has told me that her biological last name is Beale.
She's wanting to know if she has any brothers or sisters from both her biological and adoptive parents.
Thank you everyone very much I am still trying to learn the ropes.

Hello Martin,
If she was formally adopted there she should apply for the documents related to that. They may hold vital clues.
Has she got a copy of her original birth certificate?

With her permission put her on your tree with her birth surname, then any family would have a chance of finding her.

Where was she originally from, when was she born, so we can have the information from the birth certificate?

Does she not know about her adopted parents family, as to siblings?

Thank-you.

Martin- I hope you also thought about the fact that Beale can also be spelt without the "e" on the end.

Is there a second Christian name for Mother

You haven't said whether the people I added info about were Patricia's adoptive parents.

If they were, look at freebmd to see if either of them produced children before adopting patricia. As they didn't marry till 1940, they wouldn't have had any together before taking her into the family, and Millicent was a spinster

Unless George married in another County, he only married once, so any children he may have fathered are probably untraceable

one would have though she'd have known if there were any other children in the knight family. how long did she live with them?

We do need you to help us to help you

If your mother knows her birth name, she must have seen her adoption papers

Ricochet

Ricochet Report 28 Jul 2014 21:00

There is only on patricia Beal birth on freebmd with the same MMN

Your mother must know her own DOB, so look to see if that entry fits
