Find Ancestors

I have been searching for my grandmother for sometime now and cannot find any information on her birth or death. The only concrete information I have is a marriage certificate.

Married to William Bickle in the City of Westminster in December 1935, on the marriage certificate her age on the certificate is 35 years. Also on the marriage certificate it says her father was John Thornborrow (deceased).

Unfortunately I do not have any living relatives alive to ask any questions. Will be very grateful for any information.

If you only have the marriage certificate to go on she may not have been born England/Wales, so what else do you have to link back to her- any clues can prove vital in getting the links. No matter how insignificant you think them to be.

Ada was a ladies maid and worked in the London Area.In 1935/6 Ada married William Bickle.Looking for her death date and anyone who would have known her.
Edith's parents were John & Elizabeth Thornborrow, John was an Upholsterer & Paper Hanger.

so maybe she told a few porkies about her age when she married as that would make her about 42 not 35

So who was the Doris Thornborrow living with Ada/William Bickle 1950/52/53 - could this be her daughter? Also with them in 1949, recorded as a service voter.

Born 1922 according in Chester I think, and married Cooper in 1956.

Thank you all for your speedy replies the information I am thrilled about and feel that I might be getting somewhere, I have also my mothers details sadly deceased when I was 4 years old and I did not know my father but now have quite a bit of information on him.

Doris Evelyn Thornborrow born 2nd March 1922 & died September 1956 in Nottingham she married just prior to this date to Raymond Cooper.

The last known address of my grandmother (Ada Thornborrow) was Lillington Street, Westminster. and that was the last contact we had in 1955/6.
