According to national archives almost 100% of divorce files survived 1858-1927, but there's no sign of one for Edmund/May. If this is Edmund's birth - only one I can see couple of years either side (any area),

Meaning the marriage posted by Jacqueline is likely for May, but would appear to be a different Edmund.

ADDED: I think the Edmund marrying in 1927 was the son of Alfred Ernest, Edmund snr's older brother.

It was a bit late when I was posting last night, and my thinking may not have been as clear as it should be.

I confess I didn't associate the death with the elder Edmund, as he married without a second name being recorded

So Joyce is a great-niece of Edmund snr, and a cousin (of some sort) to Percy.................do you concur?

There isn't any appropriate birth record for Maisie Mcdowell..................was she perhaps this child?

Yes, I agree with the relationships, and think you are right with the birth - I couldn't find one for Maisey either, but hadn't looked that well.

I also think Mabel is a nickname, and she is the same person as May L - married right number of years etc. There's no way he was married twice, and then to have Percy in 1911 with the right mmn.

I have to say I didn't even consider that Mabel wasn't May L. lol!
