Hi. I am trying to help a cousin in the USA with some family history and would be grateful for any help.
Leonard Thomas Quicke (b 1859 Ealing) married Gertrude Ann Hill (b c1858 Exeter) in Q3 1881
Children I have located from BMD and census records are
Leonard William W b Exeter 1882 Reginald Cecil b Exeter 1883 Denis Charles b Exeter 1885 Alfred Henry b Exeter 1887 Gladys Ann b Exeter 1889 Kathleen May b Exeter 1892 Harold Eugene b Albany New York c 1895 Florence Madeline b Swindon 1897
As you can see, this couple popped over to the USA and had Harold between the other births, so it is these passenger records or birth details for Harold which would be interesting.
Denis married my Great Aunt, Mabel Amelia Gauntlett and they also emigrated to the USA but we do already have BMD info for them thanks.
The other puzzle is on the 1911 census it shows 10 children born to Leonard and Gertrude but 2 had died. I have only been able to spot 8 births and no obvious deaths.
I have a marriage for Reginald and a possible one for Alfred, so they survived.
I appreciate any help you may be able to give and Happy New Year all.

If you look on FamilySearch there is a marriage in South Africa for a Harold Eugene Quick born 1895, don't know if it's the same chap.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-12337-4591-91
ADDED: Yes, I think it is him. The chap marrying is a hairdresser and yours is a barber on the 1911.

There is a suggestion that Leonard Thomas Quicke committed suicide by jumping into the river Thames but I'm not sure without buying a death certificate for the following:
Leonard T Quick aged 54 Reg Wandsworth 1914
Are there any press archives which would throw any light on this please?

I wonder if this is Gertrude?
in the New York, Census of Inmates in Almshouses and Poorhouses, 1830-1920
Name: Gertrude Quick and 6? children Gender: Female Age: 36 Birth Year: abt 1860 Birth Place: Excter Admission Date: 31 Aug 1896 Father's Birth Place: England Mother's Birth Place: England
The writing is pretty poor but she was married and from Exeter.
They landed at Boston and she had been in the US for 277?
She was a mother of 7 living children and their condition was 'with mother.'
Her cause of dependance was 'Deserted by Husband.'
Remarks made were 'husband left her in Albany saying that he was going to Boston on search of employment. She gave him all the money she had. The next time she heard from him he was back in England-- application has been made to State Board of Charities to ?? the family ??? to England.
She was discharged on 31 Aug 1896 and sent to Bristol? England on the ship Pampus?

I think Alviegal is on to something there. (Post above now added to which confirms)
The census shows Gertrude as born Exeter and also Leonard seemed to return alone.

Sorry, missed your comments whilst typing but I would think it's the same person. I'm surprised she went back to her husband when they arrived back in England but I suppose with all those children she didn't have much of a choice. Poor woman.

Oh Alviegal how terribly sad this family story has become, but thank you so much for your efforts.
It also looks very much as if Leonard did commit suicide :-(
As a coincidence, Denis left my Great Aunt with small children in the USA. My cousins Dad did not see her father after the age of 5.
