Hi, I am struggling to find any record of this ancestor.

I have a funeral card for Celeneir who died on August 2nd 1888, wife of John Whitworth. The funeral was at St Cross Church Clayton.

On the back of the card, my husbands grandmother states she was named after her, and she was her great grandmothers sister.
Her great grandmother was Hannah Bell.

I have spent many hours searching, but cannot find any records for her at all, birth, marriage, death or on any census!
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you got any information about John Whitworth (preferably death in same area) :-)

What sort of birth year do you estimate for her?

Thank-you

Have you looked for the marriage using only her surname?

Where and when was HANNAH born?

I have no other information on John Whitworth other than details on Celenier's funeral card.
She was 58 when she died, so born in 1830, but unable to find her birth or on census. I wonder if this is her second name, but known as, but unsure how to fiund that out either.
Quite an unusual name for time, not sure of origins.

Thank you for suggestions and help, although we had her surname as Bell .
Worth following up though.

Thanks again

So was BELL the married name of Hannah?

That would explain why I couldn't find a potential Whitworth/Bell marriage

And the first name was, as I suspected, wrongly recorded on the funeral card.

Cracking find, Gins

Can I ask..........are you absolutely sure that the great-grandmother referred to as the 'sister' was in fact Hannah Bell?

Everyone has more than one great-grandmother
