I would be very grateful for any help with my great great great grandfather; James Frederick Atkinson
I was told that the following information but am looking for confirmation or proof, but am very new to the whole family history searching. (born abt 1800 in possibly Essex)
He married Elizabeth Brown on 12 July 1827 in Camberwell.
He was possibly a Russia Merchant of London (though I'm not 100% sure of what that was) possibly came to Australia in 1842 with his family.
9 children: Charles 1828-1828, Charles James, Mary, Alfred, Septimus, Harriet, James, Sophie & George. All possibly born in a Swansea, Wales

You want to know who James snr's parents were....etc

Unfortunately, Essex is one of more difficult counties to research..........

Probably doesn't help, but at the time of the marriage (by licence) James Atkinson was a bachelor of the parish of St Catherine (sic) Coleman, London.

One of the witnesses was a Harriet Atkinson, probably a relative.

I can't find a baptism for James at St Katherine Coleman, and he may well have moved there at some time between birth and marriage.

There was one for a Harriet Atkinson, but I have no idea if she is the one who was a witness at the wedding:

There was also a George and Sarah Atkinson baptising a couple of children at St Katherine's, but no son James, and no idea if any connection as Atkinson is not an uncommon name:

EDIT: Neither set of parents matches the parents on the death on the Ancestry tree that Maddie posted.

One of the Ancestry trees has an image for the 1873 NSW death cert for James Atkinson, aged 73 years.

On that, the parents of James Atkinson, gentleman, are recorded as Thomas Atkinson, gentleman, and Emma Jones.

His birthplace is recorded as Essex, it confirms his marriage to Elizabeth Brown, and states there are 5 sons and 3 daughters living, and one son deceased.

The Harriet who died Fenchurch street 1836, had sons named Stephen Thomas, JAMES, Charles, Septimus Edward and Frederick (?), and daughters named Harriet, Emily Ann, Caroline and Matilda.

There certainly seems to be sums of thousands of pounds involved, and she mentions annuities.

She mentions her late husband THOMAS Atkinson.

There is quite a lot to the will, and although legible, it might take a while to read, and it mentions other wills, so I'm not sure if any of her children had already predeceased her.

Wondering whether James Atkinson and wife Elizabeth named their son Septimus Edward after James' brother: in Harriet's will, there is a codicil mentioning that her son Septimus Edward (James' brother?) had died.
