Has any one ever got a copy of William and Margarets marriage ????
if so what are the details of parents as stated on it. and occupations

from the ages of some of the George Carters found I can see that the George and Elizabeth could be grandparents !! not parents.

the William Carter 1854 son of William and Emma is still about in 1881 so not him

Jacqueline Report 22 Jun 2015 09:34

You haven't told us the EXACT info from the MC.

As has been said before, there is NO record of a marriage for the people you say were named as William's parents.

This is something you can easily check yourself, by looking at freebmd

BRICKMACKER/MOULDER/SETTER are given as occupations of both men.

(taken from below query, google search)

http://www.familytreecircles.com/looking-for-carters-bricklayers-of-leicestershire-54204.html

(and another from somebody)

I know William and Margaret married straight off the Northhampton N.S.W. in 1879.ST. Augstines Church Balmain.
On M.cert. Wm.and George are Brickmoulders/pointers/layers.,from leistershire,U.K.
Margaret B. 1856 Tipperary Irld. I have come up with blanks in U.K.and Irland and with no living relatives that I know of I dont know where to go next. Hoping anyone can give the tiniest bit of information, it will lead to others with same interest.
I have 1840 for Georges' B but this is incompatable with Wms. B in 1854??
Wm. and Margarets' first child was George Henry B 1880 at Geelong Vict . 3 others inc. Thomas patrick B. Hawthorn Vict.

in Australia -- I believe they are brothers from the 1851 Census Chis put
up above -- William looks to have taken 5y of his age to appear younger

Until the poster gives us the FULL details from the marriage cert...............it's all speculative

It shouldn't be too onerous to look for the father's name and occupation

Found Fanny in 1891

Name: Fanny Carter

Address: Leicester Borough Lunatic Asylum ... Parish: West Humberstone... Area: Billesdon... Age: 42... Born In: 1849... Relation: Patient... Profession: Domestic Work... not known where she was born -- think she died not long after this

they had a daughter Elizabeth Ann born beginning of 1871 might have found a couple of Elizabeths in 1881 as visitors to family's ---- not yet found Fanny in 1881.

there is another William and Fanny Carter in Loughborough which a lot of people have taken to be the same couple but she was Fanny Smith they make confectionery not bricks. it is confusing because they also have a Elizabeth A but she was born 1874

is this enough for you to believe I have the right William. ???

Hello Mavis..This sounds feasable..Is there a Divorce for William and Fanny? My information had George and Elizabeth/Jane having William when George was 14yo.Also that William was only child. So his sister Elisabeth is anew one to me. But then it is all new to me..I even think I have a printout of George and Jane in my folder..How does one find people in asylums..Thank you so much for this..Now I can work on Carters in Australia as they travel from Sydney to Geelong in Victoria..Another trial..Also Margarets Irish history of Higgins..Keep up the good work.. This is George and Jane Carter 1851

Grange Lane - Jones Yard

Jane Carter 30y -------------------- "
George Carter 11y Brickyard boy "
Elizabeth Carter 8y ------------------ "
Isabella Carter 6y -------------------- "
William Carter 2y -------------------- "

as you can see the George born 1840 is Williams brother not his father

George Carter born 1840 married Harriett Bannister March 1861
------------------------------------------------------------------------

George and Jane Carter 1861
47 Grange Lane Leicester - St Mary

George Carter 46y Bricklayer labourer Leicester

William Carter 13y Bricklayer labourer ----------------- "

---------------------------------------------------

there is no divorce for William - to expensive -- he was a bigamist
in Australia -- I expect he didn't think he would be found out so far away !!

I have written details of some of Williams brothers and sisters marriages but
a lot of details on your Carter family are in Ancestry -- but be careful because
a lot of people that have William and Fanny in their trees but because they are not found 1881 census they have taken up with the William and Fanny in Loughborough which you can see are not George and Jane Carter's William

There is no saying if William has a birth cert. ??

I shall have another look to see if I can find Fanny 1881 she must be some where
