How do you know that the girl on the 1911 census is the one who married Whitehouse?

You don't appear to have any documents relating to the marriage...........

No, nobody has.

I did wonder if she might have been adopted, but the two Lauras born Stone 1901-3 are both accounted for in the 1911 census.

FreeBMD doesn't have any Laura Pettifer born anywhere England or Wales in 1901-3.

There is no birth - on any site - to fit the info Sarah has given.

I posted the births of the older girls on page one..........so they were recorded properly

There doesn't appear to have been a daughter old enough to have been giving birth in 1902

Sarah has not yet said why she thinks the 1911 census is the girl/woman who married Whitehouse.

The cert is essential for facts.

Thank you all yet again fro your efforts in helping me with Laura Whitehouse. I will await her marriage certificate and then update you. Nothing worse than an unsolved line, I shall have to keep digging until I have exhausted all possibilities

Laura's marriage certificate arrived today and confirmed that she married a William Henry Whitehouse in 1924. he was a soldier living Didcott Berks. this fits in with the three children that I found b. Wallingford Hant x2 + Wallingford Berks x1 to a Whitehouse/Pettifer. Just shows how records can throw you. Firstly no birth record found for Laura, secondly name appears as Lewis on C11 although states sex as Female! Still not managed to find her death though, unfortunately nobody else seems to be researching this line of the family. Well thanks again for all your help.

Are you going to share the details from the marriage certificate please? Laura's age? Her father's name and occupation? The names of the witnesses? Some or all of that information may help to identify the correct birth for Laura.

Her age was recorded as 23yrs (which more or less fits in with C11 aged 9yrs). her fathers name is correct George Pettifer plus engineer ( he was gas fitting engineer). he also was a witness along with an A.Whitehouse (don't now who that was) his father was Charles Whitehouse window cleaner although I've not managed to tie up any records of this family. he was also aged 23yrs. I've looked for Lauras death but not managed to tie that up either.
