John I would certainly write to the funeral home and ask whether they would pass a message to the family ... the funeral was only 8 years ago so there is every chance the funeral home (or cemetery) would have contact info |

Unfortunately, the names are so common that without some corroborating info such as father's name, there's no way of knowing if he's your Robert or not. |
