The Albert C who married Gladys M in Islington isn't the right Albert. They're on the 1939 register together. He was a Postman born 1910.

NYX Thanks for that. Is Jean there with them? she was born 1926 ?

Root Gatherer Yes right Family . Lilian was sister to Ellen Foster the closed one would be jean . As lilian states married, Albert would still have been alive then. I believe he was in a "home", as the accident sent him mental. I am 99% certain he did not remarry,
Malyon, thanks for lillian's death date
Could some one look in 1939 for Albert, in a mental home, please.?(Barnet, maybe?)
Looks like his death was 1965 in Barnet. Right area, as Lilian stayed in colindale all her life, round the corner from wakemans hill.. I am trying to remember if he was mentioned,in family. But i think that maybe it was not talked about in those days (mental illness)

Once again a great help from you all.

As an aside. Lilian , my great aunt, gave me my grandmothers engagement ring on my 21st birthday Which I had not seen before. The ring is 3 sapphire and 2 diamonds. My engagement ring is 2 sapphires and 3 diamonds , which i had 3 years before . I must have had similar taste as granma, who sadly died in 1920, leaving my mum an orphan at 6 years old.

So if some one has 1939 info on Albert. much appreciated

Thanks Shirley. I would guess that is him. occupation seams to change a bit. but I know he was at the time of the accident, a driver. I thought it was a bus, but I guess drivers where in short supply in those days (you had to be wealthy to have the means to learn) . I would imagine that there will be something in the local papers about the incident. Especially as the newspaper collection was kept in Colindale

That looks likely Shirley. I had tried searching for him using "motor", "mechanic", "driver" but never thought of chauffeur! Well found Shirley :-)
