Could some kind person please look at the image for the following record it was in Dec Qtr 1853 for Philip Dickinson to Eliza Finney would like to know who father was to see if it the Philip I'm looking for or to rule that marriage out.

His father - Richard Dickinson - The writing is dreadful but on first glance his occupation looks like 'Gardener' although the first letter appears to be the same as the 'S' on Surgeon but then it would look like 'Sandeman' which doesn't make sense ??

Witnesses were Richard Dickinson and Susannah Swales.

Actually though - I have looked again and although Philip's occupation seems to cleary say 'Salesman' on first glance, I am now seeing both his and his father's occupations as 'Gardener' !!!

Hi All,

Thank you all so much for your work but sorry it's not the one I'm looking for so can rule that one out.

My Philip was born 1826 Lincolnshire father was George mother was Sarah, cannot really find anything on Philip except one in Middlesex on 1851 census which says born Lincolnshire. There is a Philip in the USA by 1860 born 1827's so could be him I'll have another look though the index's and see what I can find.

Hi ArgyllGran,

Yes the Philip Dickinson christening 23 Jan 1826 is the right one. I've been looking on familysearch site and found some of the USA census you have put above also some record for the son William of USA Philip which says Mary Ann name was Bradley.

Cannot find a marriage between Philip and Mary not sure how to find one in the USA and if it would have father's name on it.

Also on 1860 census says there is a Sarah Smith with them down as mother but my Philip's mother Sarah maiden name was Hickinbottom/Hickinbotham and she died 1846 in Lincoln, England.
