I am trying to track down Daisy Wood who was born 20 November 1925 in West Ham.

All I know is that she lived in that area until around 1966.

How do I go about trying to find her? Do I first need to buy all the death certs from that date onwards?

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 22 Mar 2018 14:59

Was Wood her birth name?

If so, was she single in 1966?

Are these her parents?

Wood is her birth name she was single in 1966.

Those are her parents and that is them in 1939.

I have looked at freebmd and there is no death trace. This is of course only complete to 1979.

There is no trace in family search. Which I believe covers the records to 2007

There are several of that name on the 'Find a Will' site unfortunately no way of knowing whether one of them is her, though you may be able to tie some of them in with obituaries?

https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills

She could still be living.

Have you contacted the other people who may have Daisy in their trees on here?

John

John Report 22 Mar 2018 15:44

She may still be alive, which is what I am hoping.

I have contacted the other people none of us know anything about her beyond around 1966.

Where can I check the death records beyond 2007?

There are no deaths to match 1965 - 2007 as Daisy Wood with a 1925 +/- 2 years birth
(England and Wales deaths 1837-2007 from Find My Past)

So either a late marriage, she has died since then or whoever registered a death had no idea of correct age.

There are 4 Daisy Wood deaths on the Find a Will site which goes up to date - they are in 2010/12/13/15. The Registry's concerned are not local to her last known area, but that doesn't have to be anyway. See link posted by Nyx. Be sure to highlight the correct time period when you search.

If she has died, her 'estate' may not have had to go to probate so may not be recorded on the site anyway.

2 Daisy Wood marriages 1965 to 2005 - 1981 in Pontypridd and 1987 in Southend on Sea

There are 4 deaths showing in Ancestry for Daisy Wood between 2007-2015. I cannot check there ages as I do not have a membership at the moment.

I realise that Ancestry is only 55% complete for this period

Some of those on Anc' ( taken from other sources I believe) may be 2008/11/15 as on obituaries

This may be the 2012 death/probate that shows on Anc ( I only have access to the search)

1 result with the name WOOD and the year of death 2012

WOOD DAISY 27 September 2013 4170400 23 December 2012 Grant and will Winchester

the other on Anc perhaps less likely is
WOOD DAISY 30 December 2010 3421231 04 November 2010 Grant and will Birm

2 strong possibilities.

Strange that they are both in the same place.

I suppose I would need to get the death certs and contact the person who notified the death.

There is a Daisy to 2003 on erolls Epsom, but one of them I think was here for some years, but no recent eroll entries as far as I can see? It's a care home. 'maybe' they would be willing to confirm DOB?

John Report 22 Mar 2018 18:09

Sorry Nyx are you saying that you have found a Daisy Wood on the e/roll for Epsom living in a nursing home up to 2003, but not after that year?

Rambling

Rambling Report 22 Mar 2018 18:38

yes there was a Daisy Wood on the 2002/3 eroll in Epsom aged 65+ address listed as a flat. but she is not on eroll there after that,

The Croydon care home has a Daisy listed 2002-2006 but just noticed it says she was occupancy of 14 years...so probably two different Daisys.

Thanks for everyones help.

Does anybody have any experience of using a private investigator to find somebody?

With there potential access to official records they could find somebody in no time.
