Hi Mary how are you? Thank you for your very kind offer. I am looking for George Mason (a coach painteer) on 21.03.1848 he was age 19 and attempted to murder my dear old ancestor Christianna Wilkes. There is an article about the incident in the Times Newspaper. He appeared in court 11th Feb 1848. Committed for trail. Not sure when the trail date was but on documents later when Christianna was applying for a pension it states Mason had been deported. Do not know if you can find anything about his departure from England, Many thanks and regards Irene

Hi Gina Taken a bit of time as there were so many and to find complete details have to do each lookup separately.However here are all the John Salmon references that appear to be relevant: 1 Convicted Essex Assizes 9 March 1818 sentenced to Life transported July 1818 on ship Gereneral Stuart,destination not stated. 2 Convicted Derby Gaol 18 July 1818 sentenced 7years Transported on ship Canada April 1819 to Sailer colony 3 Convicted Chatham Court Martial 9 Dec 1822 sentenced 14 yrs transported on ship Commodore Hayes April 1823 to Van Diemans Land 4 Convicted Chester Assizes 29 March 1845 sentenced 20 years transported on ship Mayda 27 Aug 1845 to Van Diemans Land 5 Convicted Wells(Somerset) Quarter Sessions 1 Jan 1844 sentenced 7years transported on ship Maria Somes 22 Apr 1844 to Van Diemans Land 6 Convicted Wiltshire Assizes 5 March 1831 sentenced Life transported on ship Surrey 15 July 1831 to New South Wales 7 Convicted Cambridge Assizes 15 March 1838 sentenced 10 years transported on ship Portsea 24 July 1838 to New South Wales 8 Convicted Surrey Quarter Sessions 3 Dec 1821 sentenced 7years tranported on ship Caledonia 19 June 1822 to Van Diemans Land 9 Convicted Central Criminal Court 3 July 1837 sentenced 14 years transported on ship Emma Eugenia 2 Nov 1837 to New South Wales These are the ones which seemed to fit the time frame you gave for his birth. Hello Di from Sydney Elijah Joel convicted 1 Feb 1836 at Central Criminal Court sentenced 7 years,transported 27 Sept 1836 on ship John to NSW. Lazarus Jacobs convicted 5 March 1827 at Middlesex Gaol sentenced 7 years ,transported 4 March 1828 on ship Phoenix to NSW. Regards(loved Sydney when I visited a couple of years ago) Mary

Hi Irene Good to hear from you again,I am very well and hope the same goes for you.This looks as if this might be the notorious chappie George Mason convicted 28 Feb 1848 at Central Criminal Court sentenced 10 years,transported on ship William Jardine 9 Aug 1850 to Van Diemans Land(Tasmania). Hi Mike Not sure about this one: John Daniels convicted at Central Criminal Court 27 Feb 1860 sentenced 6years penal servitude,transported on ship Norwood to Western Australia 13 March 1862. Only one in the time frame. Regards Mary
