Don't know if this helps but there is a death for an Ann Kirkbright in September quarter of 1849 in Stockton, Durham Yorkshire North Riding Volume 24 page 200. Maybe John born c1844 is Ann's son and Dorothy's stepson. The death of Ann would fit in with the Stockton marriage to Dorothy. Looks like taking a risk as another member said in getting marriage certificate would confirm whether Edmund was a widower when he married Dorothy Hope this helps Diane
