Hi im trying to look for a Charles James Nunn born about 1868 in stoke-newlington, he was married to a mary- ann dence, and had a daughter call Frances Margurite Nunn,(my gg-grandma) i found this info on the 1901 census but now i have come to a stop! any help would be great thanx xx

I think you need to check your names and dates, and post again when you are sure the info you have is correct.........it will save a lot of time and effort. Reg

The most helpful info would be the marriage cert,which would tell you the names and occupations of both fathers, enabling you to find them on earlier censuses.......... Reg

i looked at those too, how do you know for sure its the right family?, i have done that before when i first started my tree, i completely went wrong because i put the wrong family, it had the same name , same date, same villiage, turns out it was a different extention of the family. so how can you tell if it is the correct one? is it just a gamble sometimes?

You can only be sure if you have documents to back it up............the marriage cert for Charles and Mary is a 'must'............... If the details of Mary's father's name and occupation tally with the census info, you're on a winner...........if not, search again............. Reg
