Find Ancestors

Hello I have avoided this one for some time but thought I would try again as someone with more experience will have better luck in solving this one. Catherine Kennedy (born 1858 Holborn) married Florance McCarthy (born 1852) in 1875 in Holborn. I have only 2 children's names are: Jeremiah and Mary A, In the 1901 Mary A McCarthy (born 1890 in Woolich) is living with her Aunt and Uncle Ellen and Fred FURZER. And from what I can recall her brother Jeremiah John McCarthy is on his own at a 'ships yard'. In the 1891 Jeremiah is with his Kennedy Grandparents and is shown as Grandson - errand boy. I have no idea what happened to their parents or their siblings. Any help would be great. I cant even find them in the 1881 now - so I am not off to a good start! Danielle

Hi Ann Catherine McCarthy nee Kennedy's parents were James Michael and Catherine Kennedy. I haev information on her siblings and parents but she is incredibly elusive. Whilst I dont have a copy of their marriage cert, another family member does and they confirmed this it the correct couple. Danielle

Florance is such an unusual name for a man, i would pretty much say that is them in the 1901 census. Alot of my ancestors ages varied greatly in the census', so ages is not always something to go on.

Although she was born in a layin hospital, her parents may of actually been living in bermondsey area. Which is why she gives it as place of birth. Lots of my ancestors gave all different place of birth. One even gave Brighton, Sussex, when she was actually born in Lambeth.

Uh OH! Just found a Florance McCarthy married a Catherine DRISCOLL in 1877 in St Olave, so I think this is your 1881 and 1891 couple. Florance is more common a name than i thought!

if this is your Jeremiah John McCarthys birth, that looks like it is definately the right family, because of the district his birth was registered in View Record Jeremiah John McCarthy 1877 Oct-Nov-Dec St Olave Southwark (1837-1901)

What was Florance's occupation on his childrens birth certificates. Also can u confirm his Father's name and occupation from his marriage certificate

Hi Siobhan Sorry i dont have Florance's fathers name nor his occupation, - of all the info I thougth worth copying I only took down the witnesses names!! I will have to email my cousin in the UK to get these details. I have that Jeremiah was born January 1879 at 1 Fulwood Rents Saint Andrews Holborn - again this provided by my cousin.
