Hi Cheryl To stop you from being bored could you try to find my elusive GGGrandfather in 1851 census. Robert FUGE born 1822 in Plymouth,Devon. In 1841 he was aged 15 living at Ersworthy,Sheepstor,Devon but not with parents. Robert married Elizabeth Taylor in Dec 1851 in East Stonehouse,Devon & they came to Australia in 1853. His parents were John & Sarah (Sally) Fuge, nee Luxmoore (married 1806 in Soho,London but believed to have been born in Devon). John's occupation on Robert's marriage was Cabinet Maker. Could you try outside the square with his spelling. Thanks for your help. Kerri

Dawn Report 7 Dec 2006 12:13

Hi Thanks for your kind offer, I was wondering if you could see if you could find my Great Grandad on 1901 census. Here's all the info I have on him so far. CHARLES H PHILLIPS ( The 'H' sometimes stands for HALL and other times HERBERT). On marriage cert it says he was 22, on 8/11/1914 in Longnor, which I think is Leek, Staffordshire area, so born around 1892. Also on marriage cert a brother listed as JOESPH HALL PHILLIPS and father listed as CHARLES HALL (occupation Mason). I know that he died in 1980 and from a newspaper cutting about him says he was 87 (b 1893) and was born in Quarnford, Staffs. Where he lived was close to the Staffs, Cheshire and Derbyshire borders. Hope that helps and sorry I don't have any more info at the moment. Hope you can find something on him and his family. Dawn :-)

Cheryl

Cheryl Report 7 Dec 2006 14:27

Hi Dawn I think this is his father of your Charles in 1891 actually in Quarnford Name: Charles H Hall Age: 35 Estimated birth year: abt 1856 Relation: Visitor Gender: Male Where born: Warslow, Staffordshire, England Civil parish: Quarnford Ecclesiastical parish: Quarnford Town: Quarnford County/Island: Staffordshire Country: England Registration district: Leek Sub-registration district: Longnor ED, institution, or vessel: 3 Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age Charles H Hall 35 Mason Walter H Hall 15 (this could be his son?) William Naden 49 Head of House. Just to clarify (i'm a bit thick sometimes) His name was Charles Hall Phillips or Charles Herbert Phillips. His fathers name was Charles Hall, so i am assuming his parents did not marry and the Phillips part is her maiden name. Get back to me regards Cheryl
