Hi Cheryl Would you please look in the 1901 Census for Wigan for Thomas Whitehead aged about 5 years old and born in Wigan. He may be with his father John Robert( died 1901) or just with his mother - sorry don't know her name. Not a lot to go one but that's all I have I'm afraid. Look forward to hearing from you John

Hi Cheryl RE: Just to clarify (i'm a bit thick sometimes) His name was Charles Hall Phillips or Charles Herbert Phillips. His fathers name was Charles Hall, so i am assuming his parents did not marry and the Phillips part is her maiden name. That's it. Why they can't all have the same names and make things easy!!!! lol It looks like you've found his father for me. My Great Grandad (Charles H Phillips) funeral was held at Warslow Church, so it all appears to be connected. If you don't mind and you get the chance would you mind seeing if you could see them on any of the other census for me? We don't know much about this side of the family at all. His first wife died very young and left him with a number of children. Some got put into care, etc, so as they grew up didn't talk about him. Now only 2 of his children (my Great Aunt and Uncle) are alive but refuse to talk about their father (Charles H Phillips), so anything else you manage to find would be wonderful. Thanks for all your help. Dawn

Hi Cheryl Thanks for the info re my Whiteheads - all of that which you have sent is useful - pity about Thos born 1896 not appearing in the 1901 census, it must be a transcription or some such thing as I am sure that he was still alive at that time. Thanks again John

Hello Cheryl Thanks for what you have found about the Steuarts ( Stewarts ) Have PM,d you with some questions. But generally I am wondering if 1861 Census gives info. about relationships per each person and places of birth. ( hopefully more than simply - outside census county ). What you have found has unravelled a knotted ancestral ball. Although the ages seem way out they aren't. What is showing is a second marraige for John Stewart to Jessie Williamson. Also showing is 2 children from previous marraige - Marion Stewart b. 6th July 1849 - age 11 and also John Stewart b. 24th Oct 1841 - age 19. ( I had thought it was the son John who married Jessie ) but the ages have shed more light on that. The father John was born 1811 making him 50 in 1861.....I had found him on 1841 Census married to Isabella. Will now be searching for the death date of first wife - Isabella Finlay. Does 1861 show relationships and places of birth ? Kind Regards Jim
