Find Ancestors

Can somebody help. Cannot find Elizabeth Pronger on 1881 census. She was born in about 1877 and her father's name on marriage certificate is James. She was married in Southwark in 1897 to John Hallett. I also know she died in about 1920. Help please as it's driving me mad.Deb

what was her fathers occupation?

no its not. had just sent for that certificate hoping it was her and they have replied that the father's name doesn't match.

father's occupation was a horse keeper according to the marriage cert.

Thanks for that but unfortunately by 1901 she had married John Hallett. Incidently can't find them on 1901 census!!!!!!!

No probably right. The only other option I can think is that the father went by the name James but it's not his first name or hers is not Elizabeth first!!!!!!

have you found her on any census? what do you know about her ?, except where she married

Not a lot. In fact only her name and wedding date. I do know that is right. They were not very rich and as they married in London I have assumed she was born there too.

And no I haven't found her on any census.

20 on the 15th August 1897

any witness names of any use? any children by 1901?

Witnesses are- William Poole and Mary Ann Carr

Should be some children by 1901. My Nan was born in 1905 and I know she had some older brothers- just don't know what order they come in, (Thomas was her favourite but not sure when he was born).

The 1901 census shows Elizabeth Hallett born in Wandsworth and John Hallett born Chelsea. Could not find a Wandsworth birth though there were Prongers in that area

In 1901 living in Rochester, Kent. No children. John was a boiler maker's labourer.

Thanks for that- it's worth pursuing. Could it be possible that her birth is not on Ancestry or any other sites. Still doesn't explain why I can't find them on 1881 census though.
