Hope someone can help. Walter Nicholls married Edith Rogers in Tarporley 1891 - 95. Would anyone be able to find out what children they had. I know of a Madge but that is probably a shorten name. Also what occupation did Walter have and when they both died. Also I would like to know where they are buried if possible. Thanks Jen

Are you saying Walter Nicholls was born about 1870? Do you know where? There are a lot of Walter's on the 1901 census!! Merry

Hi Merry Yes I think he was born c1870 only because he married Edith who was born c1871. The marriage you have is certainly them. Could you find out more for me? Thanks. Jen

Hi Edith was born in Tarporley to William Rogers and Selina Cookson. It is her marriage to Walter that is stumping me. They may have lived in Whitby - the Whitby adjacent to Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. Hope this helps. Jen

That's the right track. Selina was her sister and Selinas husband to be by the sound of it Edward Whittaker.

When you say servant Norfolk do you mean Jane Phoenix as she worked as a servant in Norfolk or was Edith also a servant?

Merry

Merry Report 1 Oct 2005 19:38

Who is Jane Phoenix? Merry

Merry Report 1 Oct 2005 19:40

1891, Edith was a housemaid for the Vicar of Dereham, Norfolk - he was Henry Arnold. Merry

Hi Merry Well done. Thanks. It looks as if they only had the one daughter? Could you find out when they died and where they might be buried for me? Jen

Merry

Merry Report 1 Oct 2005 19:54

I can't identify other children after 1901 as we don't know where the couple lived and there are several births in Wem district - they cannot all be the same family! Merry

Merry Report 1 Oct 2005 19:58

I thought you knew a Madge? Without knowing where they lived after 1901 and having no idea when they died, this would be a very difficult task. There are so many people with their names and ages, how would you know if you were looking at the right entry? Even with the death certificates, it still might not be easy to work out where they were buried/cremated. Merry

Hi Merry Can you find out when they died after 1901 or are your records just up to that date. If you can, could you also find out about Roseina Madeleine's death. Thanks Jen

Jen

Jen Report 1 Oct 2005 20:01

Sorry I was replying at the time you sent your last message. Thanks for everything you have done for me tonight. Madge would have been short for Madeleine their daughter. Good luck and best wishes Jen
