Teresa Unfortunately I don't have the 1851 indexes for the Glasgow parishes only the Lanarkshire parishes listed above. However I did look up the names incase they had moved!! but all I could find was- John McKinley aged 35 born Ireland in Cadder Lanarkshire Thomas McKinley aged 61 born Ireland in Carnwath Lanakshire Eliza McKinley aged 59 born Ireland in Carnwath. The indexes only list names ages birthplaces and details of registration districts, they don't list relationships although you can look at the neighbours of each individual therefore you can see family groups . Scotlands people site is hoping to have all censuses online by the end of this year, indexed with images. Cheers Michelle

Hi Michelle, could you find the families of the following John Lambie born c1839 in Glassford and Elizabeth Ingram born c1837 in Glassford they later married in 1863. thanks Ann

Michelle

Michelle Report 7 Feb 2005 18:05

Ann No John Lambie in Glassford in 1851 - the only John Lambie aged 12 was born in Ireland and living in Shotts, and the only other one nearest in age on the disc was aged 10 born in Ayr Saltcoats and living in Old Monkland. However there was one Lambie family living in Glassford at the time - Andrew Lambie 28 born Avondale Agnes Lambie 29 born Avondale James Lambie 23 born Avondale Fracis Lambie 17 born Avondale More luck with Elizaberth I hope- Robert Ingram 57 born Glassford Elizabeth Ingram 51 born Glasgow Janet Ingram 17 born Glassford John Ingram 19 born Glassford Elizabeth Ingram 14 born Glassford Ann Ingram 12 born Glassford David P Ingram 10 born Glassford Margaret Ingram 9 born Glassford Grace Ingram 4 born Glassford next door to them - Margaret Paterson 63 born Hamilton Alexander Paterson 23 born Glassford Janet Ingram 5 born Glassford and the next two on the same page are- James Frew 25 born Glassford Helen Frew 23 born Glasgow I don't know if this lot are in the same household or not and because the disc is only an index it doesn't tell you relationships - I can only group families on the same page so I can't be sure who Janet Ingram aged 5 belongs to I would guess with the Paterson's!! Also there is a Helen Ingram aged 39 living in Glassford but not on the same page as the others!! Hope this is of some use Cheers Michelle

Hi Michelle, I am desperate to find two Lanark families in 1851. Family one. Robert Hamilton married to Janet nee Allan, son William born 1839 and family two:- Robert Hamilton married to Janet nee Robertson, son William born 1840. I am trying to find which one of these two families is mine? they share so much in common. Any help you can give would be very very appreciated. All adults I think would have been born around 1817 give or take a year or two. Sheila Alexander
