Hi April I'll have a look over the weekend or late this evening, they probably wont be in the Hastings area, but probably in Burwash as you say they had a son born in Burwash in 1851 but I will have a look in both for you and post details over the next couple of days. Karen |

Hiya Derek I dont think I'm going to be able to help you, I only have census details and I dont have the census details for Midhurst, but i will have a nose through the areas I've got either this evening or over the weekend and post a new message on this thread once I've looked. Karen |

Hi April I've checked all areas that I have for the 1851 census and theres no sign of your Saunders family, my census index's dont cover St Leonards so maybe they were still there. Sorry I couldnt help. Karen |

Thanks for looking Karen. I'll have to see if he's in an 1861 census, although since he was a mariner he may have already run away to sea by the time he was 16. |
