I have a marriage certificate for George Edwards aged 28 a farmer and Eliza Foster age 24 in Wrexham in 1891. George states his father as Samuel Edwards (deceased) a farmer. |

He was in Barracks because he was in the Army (Royal Welsh Fusiliers).......it was his father who was the farmer. |

Do you have one of the childrens birth certs to confirm this is the right couple in 1901. |

I'm actually doing this for a friend, he does have a birth certificate for one of the children and it is the correct couple. |

One of the children born in 1902 has the middle name Foster too. |

Perhaps he left the Army in time for the wedding......maybe the father died and he inherited the farm......... |

I've thought that too Reg, but he's still stated as a soldier on the 1901 census. |

Still puzzled by this as he is not a farmer in 1901 - listed as Pte R W Ind S - which is surely a soldier |

That's what is confusing me too. |

Yes, that could be Harold on the 1901. My friends grandmother was Stella Foster Edwards born 1902. So the name ties in. |

The other possibility is that George was illegitimate. |
