Need help finding a William Young, he is the father of George Young who was born 1857/8 Somerset. William appears on Georges marriage certificate occupation 'Druggist' 1883 it does not say on the certificate that he was deceased at this time. The only William I can find is a William Francis Young born 1829 Somerset occupation 'Porter' died 1860. |

He was born in Bath. |

I guess I followed the same route that you did. I found George born 1858 Bath on the 61 census but his mother Ellen was widowed. Looked for her on the 1851 census to find her husband and it was William Francis, the porter. |

Having looked at the 1851 image, I think it might say Doctor rather than Porter. |

I disagree, Jim, it's definitely porter. Compare the first letter with the D in daughter. Besides they didn't use the term doctor in those days, it was either physician or surgeon. |

Carolyn, when did George marry and where is he in 1881. I can't see one born Bath on the census. |

Not sure where George was in 1881 but he married in 1883 and his address is 94 York Street Westminster London / County of Middlesex. William is not deceased on the marriage certificate. |

Yes this is George but I can't find his father William. I don't know if he continued living in Somerset or moved when George did. |

I still think this is your George in 1861 and his father had already died. |

Yes this is what I thought but what has confused me is that Williams occupation on his marriage certificate is Porter and on his sons (George) marriage certificate his occupation is a druggist. |

I believe Ellen Young then married Peter Germain June Q 1866, Bath. |

I believe that George just didn't know what his father's occupation was, he was so young when he died. |
