JaneyCanuck Report 16 Jan 2008 17:43

So Carol!

What you need to do, to figure out whether this is your woman, is:

1. Order the birth cert of Eliza Ellen C Donaldson
2. Order the marriage certificate of Ellen Donaldson and George Straker
3. (possibly) Order the birth certificate of Edward Donaldson

First -- does the George Straker name mean anything to you??

Different people asking the question!

Are you related to Susan, Carol? Have you seen the other thread?

Carol

Carol Report 16 Jan 2008 21:35

Heather

Heather Report 16 Jan 2008 21:36

Is it different board names - didnt notice that one! Bit of a coincidence isnt it - LOL

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 16 Jan 2008 21:42

yes - but Carol's new info:

"Ellen E Straker was born 1893 and died march 1951, she married John t Simmons and adopted my Grand mother at 6 months old, my Grand mother was born Beatrice Rose Freeman though her real mother was Rose Hawkesworth."

mirrors the info in that thread. Did you just get that info from the same source, Carol??

For Straker-Simmons marriages so far transcribed, there is only:

Marriages Jun 1909
SIMMONS William Frederick Wandsworth 1d 1283
STRAKER Edith Goodall Wandsworth 1d 1283

Of course, since Ellen here died as Straker, it seems very probable that she didn't marry Mr. Simmons.

Carol

Carol Report 16 Jan 2008 21:42

have tried to view this birth but cannot find it, have found the death no problem but have tried oct, nov, dec of births and jan of 1916 as to when registered and cannot find it?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 16 Jan 2008 21:47

There simply is no such birth.

There are two Eleanor Strakers born in 1892 and 1893 in South Shields and Tynemouth. That's the closest.

The birth dates are so wildly off -- 1893, not 1880 -- that my Eliza Ellen C Donaldson kind of goes out the window.

Heather

Heather Report 16 Jan 2008 21:53

Well I added that Nellie Straker born 1893 as Nellie is the nickname for Ellen -

Carol are you talking about the Ellen born in 1915 in my posting? Well that is her death ref so its down to the person giving the information about the birth whether the birth date is correct or not. The other thread on this mentioned Ellen died in that registration district and it seemed (yet another!) coincidence.

Im getting confused here - are there two people asking for the same information on the same day?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 16 Jan 2008 21:57

Sorry, I forgot that one. But there's no birth record to go with the 1901 census!

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 16 Jan 2008 22:04

If the 1893 Nellie Straker's mother in 1901 really was a widow, this would have to be her marriage:

Marriages Sep 1892
FROST James Camberwell 1d 1336
Goodyear Emily Georgina Camberwell 1d 1336
>> Gorham Lucy Mary J Camberwell 1d 1336
>> Straker Edward William Camberwell 1d 1336

Carol Report 17 Jan 2008 17:10

been to the cematry today and the libarary and found Ellen Straker was married to George Straker in 1948. Befor that she was married to John Simmons which explains why she could be found on birth records, do i need to buy Marriage cert to find her Real name? as i just know she was born in 1882
