Hi, can anyone tell me if/how to do an address search please?

I have both birth and marriage certs for Mary Ann Prior, and she lived at the same address she was born at when she married.
I am trying to find her and her parents before her marriage, but not having any luck.
Can anyone help please?

Regards

Maggie

Just nudged a usfeul thread on searching the census by address

You can search by address on Findmypast but you need credits or a sub to view the results

1911 can be searched by address

Or give some more info on Mary

Thanks GB !

Mary Ann Prior born January 1882 Mile End, London, address 21 Perth Street, Mile End.

Mother Jane Prior, formerly Norwood. Found a marriage for them.....although a year after Mary's birth

Marriages Mar 1883
NORWOOD Jane Mile End
1c 813

PRIOR George Mile End
1c 813

Marriage cert for Mary Ann Prior, father George Prior, labourer

I have located a George and Jane Prior in 1891 and 1901, but not at this address, and I assuming they most likely lived there all there lives if the address is on both certs.
Also unsure of the whereabouts of Mary Ann before her marriage
Hope you can help

Maggie, I was tying myself in knots lost night so a word of caution...over 8 baptisms I found family went from Duke st, to lawrence st, back to Duke st, somewhere else, then back to Duke st...so don't assume they never moved in between census and then back again :(

There must be one as it is the same surname.

Yes, they are !

What an amazing find, thanks so much Barbara. How on earth did you find them in 1891?

I have spent hours on this family today, and if you don't live too far from me in Yorkshire, I'll come and give you a big hug..lol

Thanks again, I am so grateful

Maggie :))

Hi Maggie

I found the Baptism records first and then went looking for the address on 1891 --they were shareing the house i think in 1891 --but we got there in the end. SomersetGirl is right the writting is awful so can't blame the transcriber /s for their mistakes on this --I could only just make it out, but only because I knew the name I was looking for.

All the best

Thank you SomersetGirl, I got my "clues" from your findings--I guessed Mary was Georges Mum (It looks like Jane went to mum-in-laws to have children or at least Mary )
As I said when I found the Baptism records I then went searching for them at 49 Perth Street --nothing was coming up by name, so I took the reference for Mary in 1891 Perth Street and kept looking untill I found 49--so thank you again --without the reference you provided I don't think I would have found them.

Alll the best

Thank you too Somerset Girl :)

I am still struggling to find George and Jane Prior in 1901, and there are a few choices for Mary Ann as servant. Maybe they are mistranscribed again?

Maggie (too far for a hug Barbara..lol)

BarbaraFromYorkshire Report 7 May 2010 23:16

Hi Jax
I guess not--but that is what it looks like to me for Eliza Prior baptised on 30th March 1890--if you would like to go onto Ancestry and look for the Baptism of the children on this thread --maybe you could tell us just what it does say.( I did say I couldn't be sure of dates of birth as the writting was very small)
cheers
Barbara
