Not worked out where that comes from, his mothers maiden name was Jones, so cant be that!! Merry noticed that there were lots of Lindos in the carribean...OOh er!! Will try your suggestion of googling portuguese colonies and Lindo and see what comes up. Have looked on the national archives for Lindos, but none that seem to be mine have come up.
