I wouldn't leave this country permanently, too many friends and family here but if we won a lot of money I would like a holiday home in the South of France.

When you are on holiday do you prefer to see the sights or just take in the sun and relax?

*$parkling $andie* Report 3 Aug 2009 23:04

More of the first, but then you are taking in the sun when sightseeing except when you are in the car, we always hire a car for a week to travel. But the other week we do a lot of walking in the area we are staying, we do take the sun beds occasionally, but we prefer to go exploring!

Do you keep in regular contact with you're relatives?
I email a 'cousin' weekly in Dubai who is actually my parents best friends son, unfortunately they have both passed away, but they were always 'my aunt and uncle'

I've gone back to the last post that had a question. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wishes I kept in touch more with everyone and vice versa, but last month we had our Silver Wedding Anniversary and having moved to a new house in a new part of the country we decided to have a big celebration in the garden. We were VERY lucky with the weather on the day and we had about 80 friends and family here including a number of cousins we hadn't seen for years. One or two only remembered me as a child! And of course that meant they'd never met my now adult son and daughter. We also had OH's best man with us who we hadn't seen for a few years too. It was such a special day. Took a bit of a search to dredge some of them up but so well worth it.

Has anyone met any of their GR family contacts from overseas?

Anne

Anne Report 4 Aug 2009 21:48

No but we have made contact with my husband's cousin in Canada who we now keep in touch with, he contacted us through G.R. and up until then we didn't know of his exsitence.

Have you met up with a distant relative who you didn't know and then found you had nothing in common ?

*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 4 Aug 2009 22:37

Haven't met up in person but been in contact with a second cousin who I met thro GR by putting my mother's 2nd unusual name, by which she was known as, same with dad!
Neither were known by their first names !
I am the babe of the family, and tho he lived in the same village for many years,he is almost 30 yrs older than me so no have really nothing in contact, except our grandparents being brother and sister, my grandfater died when I was 5
,My eldest first cousin and he moved to Coventry about the same time so I have put them in touch after many years.

If you like flowers what variety do you prefer?

DizzieLizzie

DizzieLizzie Report 4 Aug 2009 23:41

I don't have a favourite flower but I do prefer any that have a strong scent. Except maybe stinking iris!

Don't you wish the the weather would be better so we could sit outside enjoying our gardens with a G&T in hand?

*$parkling $andie* Report 5 Aug 2009 22:06

It has been glorious here today ,but have the builders in,so the patio has been covered with ladders and tools and been plying them with tea all day !
But yes when the weather is good I enjoy an evening on the patio with a cold glass of white wine , G and T is not my tipple.lol
I hope it is going to be good weather for the next few days for them to finish my roof.... I'll drink the wine inside.lol

Are you a night owl,...? I usually am... but am yawning my head off...looking after those men I expect !!!

DizzieLizzie Report 5 Aug 2009 23:06

I'm a lark. About now you might find me flaking out on the sofa trying to "watch" something on the telly - checking the inside of my eyelids. I have a chance for a lie in tomorrow so that should ensure I can't get back to sleep after about 5am.

Do you believe in sod's law?

Anne

Anne Report 6 Aug 2009 19:27

Yes, well it happens to me often enough.

Have you ever come unstuck telling a little white lie?

Do you struggle to get up with an alarm but wake up early when you don't need to?

*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 8 Aug 2009 21:45

I set my radio alarm but at at the lowest sound, for 7.50 but I'm always awake at 7.30, I do often wake before then when not required, but just go back to sleep .

Do you colour your hair ?

DizzieLizzie

DizzieLizzie Report 8 Aug 2009 22:03

It's orange with a purple fringe at the moment. Long story but I like it.

Anne

Anne Report 8 Aug 2009 22:09

Are you having traditional Sunday lunch today ?

Anne

Anne Report 9 Aug 2009 11:11

Yes, our son, his partner and our granddaughters are back from 16 days holiday in the USA and they always enjoy their Sunday lunch with us.

Do you prefer a Sunday at home or would you rather go out for the day?

DizzieLizzie

DizzieLizzie Report 11 Aug 2009 08:51

I really love hiking so get out on my feet pretty regularly. We do bits of local and national trails when we're on holiday and we had a couple of years when we could afford to go further afield. Last year it was the Cappadocian mountains in Turkey and the year before that Peru including the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Both absolutely stunning. Got to draw the horns in this year though - moved house.

Have you ever viewed property for sale just to be nosey?
