Rose......thank goodness the poor little cat had a peaceful in your warm home.

I have four cats and haven't used collars on them for years.....ever since my lovely tabby Twinkle can limping in with her collar under her armpit.Luckily it could have only been like it for an hour or so. I removed them from all my cats that day and have never been tempted to use them again.
A friend of my daughters released a cat that trapped by its collar last week.
Poor little thing was hooked to the wire fenceing of the graveyard opposite her house......thank God she saw it and rescued it.
A warning to all us cat people I think.

I don't have collars on mine, as you say they don't work well...I sneaked up on the other cat that belongs to the same person and took its collar off this morning...!

Rose , collars on cats are stupid and serve no purpose . None of mine ever had one ,but they where chipped as was our dog .Flea collars do not work , treat your animals with an approved medication from your vet at the recommended intervals ... not an off the shelf solution .,,

Oh what a shame.

If you do have collars on your cat's..use the safety ones that open up if a lot of strain is put on them.
Micro chips are about £17.
They not only cause bad gashes under their front leg,they can also hang on trees or get caught on fences etc.

Poor little thing - what a waste of a little life.

I would be tempted not to tell the neighbours who disowned it and see if they start to wonder where the little mite went. Or is that cruel of me?

We have a garden cat - she is about 12 years old and she's been with us for 2 or 3 months. Never comes in the house. Left behind by the people two doors away who moved and "couldn't take her" with them! (OH met one of them several weeks after they'd left and asked why they hadn't taken her.)

She's very sweet and keeps the dog in order but I feel a weight of responsibility - especially as I know she's not young. But at least she's fed and cuddled on a regular basis!

at least the poor little chap knew love before he passed away - in my book people who are unkind to animals are also unkind to people!!!
