Couldn't agree with your hubby more about your cousin in Birmingham, Pam. It's like people at work who sit in the same office and email one another rather than just walking across the office to have a chat. Although there is a reason behind this - some people use the email as a record that the converstation took place in case the s*** hits the fan at another time. Bunch of anally-retentives if you ask me ...

Morning all, ah young Ed you wouldn't understand...it's a woman thing chatting on FB to my cousin in Birmingham, her husband says the same about ringing each other up instead...but you don't get to use the keyboard and sit at a screen and look at each others photos etc and other peoples photos etc. No you're on a sticky wicket there with us women...you'll never inderstand us Ed, and you of all people should know with three ladies in your house. Do you ever get in the bathroom??!! My hubby says if we only had one toilet he doesn't know how he'd have got on with me and our daughter!

Mind you I'm in agreement with you about e mailing each other whilst in the same office...mind you I have been known to text friends and they text me ( and we were about ten feet away) when I worked in a call centre a year or two back!!

The other thing us "females" do is spend hours on the phone talking to someone, only to put the phone down to go out to meet them..... you men will NEVER understand us Ed...don`t even try to begin to............ you`d get on well with my OH, he despairs at us all as well, and like you lives in a totally female dominated house, as he always says, even the dogs a bitch, and he dare not try and find out the sex of the Goldfish because he KNOWS its going to be a female.......

Back to the films I see Armageddon is on Saturday night BBC1 about 10.45pm, I know you lot don`t like Bruce willis, but give it a try, its a great film, and plenty of action and adventure for the men, as well as Liv Tyler as eye candy, I gaurantee you will love it........ it was the top grossing film at the cinema the year it came out, so plenty of people must agree with me.

Oh believe me ladies, I DO understand women ...

My OH used to work with my MIL in the same school before my youngest was born. So they'd be there together all day, in the same office, and then call one another up every evening without fail. What did they have to speak about ...

I don't get the text wars though - have had conversations with the OH via text (or should that be txt) - which could have been sorted out much quicker and cheaper if she'd just BLOODY PHONED ME.

I suppose that because by trade I spend 8 hours a day in front of a PC, along with evening studies in front of it as well, that I don't really feel the urge to use FB. I'd much prefer to catch up with my mates over a beer ...

Nicky, yes Armageddon is a great film, seen it several times and will probably watch it again. Liv Tyler - what a cracking woman (dad's a bit strange looking though but I love Aerosmith) - stole the show as Arwen in the Lord of the Rings trilogy for me (much better than Cate Blanchett).

Things moving on a pace - got a call from an agency regarding a job this afternoon, said yes please and then I get a call back 2 hours later stating the manager wanted to perform a quick telephone interview later this afternoon. So he called me at about 5:30 and we chatted for 15 minutes or so and he asked me if I could go down to their offices tomorrow morning for an interview! So I'm off down there for 10:30 (it's also about a 15 minute walk from home as opposed to commuting into London although there will be a degree of visiting customer sites). Sounds interesting - it's for a firm that supply IT solutions to small/medium businesses - so I'll be working for a company that specialises in what I really want to do with my career - design and install IT systems.

Hi ladies, thanks for your support.

The interview went really well, the two directors who interviewed me seemed really nice and I think I impressed; at any rate I felt very comfortable with them. The interview lasted an hour and three-quarters, which I was informed by the agency was par for their course. The feedback I got seemed very positive and by all accounts they are seeing another candidate tomorrow morning (yes Saturday) and I could well get a decision by tomorrow lunchtime, as they really want someone to start next week!

Back onto the thread, just beginning to watch "The Enforcer" the third Clint Eastwood film with 'Dirty' Harry Callahan. Watched Magnum Force last week, with a youthful David Soul. I do love the Dirty Harry films, I think they were revolutionary at the time and the stories still hold up now.

Yes I saw that last week with David Soul in it...."Well do ya punk?" My husband loves the Dirty Harry films too.

Well I either didn't get it or they haven't decided yet.

Anyway, it's my youngest's birthday next week and today we took some of her friends bowling. Good fun (even if I was thrashed by my OH and eldest daughter), the diddlies played on their own lane.

Afterwards, we went to the multiscreen next door and saw Ice Age 3. PMSL, there were the usual suspects, along with a great character called Buck, a totally demented, one-eyed weasel whose voice was done by Simon Pegg. Oh and Scrat, the squirrel who's forever chasing the acorn finds lurve ...

Fingers crossed for you Ed......hopefully you`ll get some good news today.

I want to see Ice Age 3......the first 2 were very good, with I think the 2nd one being slightly better than the 1st..

Did you watch Armageddon on Saturday.?........we did and I thoroughly enjoyed it all over again, even the cheesy bits, { note to Ben Affleck....never try and make a career out of singing...}

Well that one didn't come off - the other guy was slightly more experienced than me. But I came a close 2nd out of 6 applicants so I'm taking that as a positive. To be honest the company seemed a bit flaky to me and I think they really would have wanted their pound of flesh.

Never mind, getting plenty of opportunities to watch the Tour de France - one of my other passions is cycling (I'm a London to Brighton veteran) - rooting for Bradley Wiggins at the moment and Mark Cavendish for the Green Jersey.

Not a great follower of cycling, though thoroughly enjoyed all the cycling from Beijing last summer, wern`t our team GB just brilliant!! though I was aware Bradley Wiggins is in Tour de France, wasn`t he lying 5th...??

Hi Nicky,

Yes Bradley Wiggins is still fifth - 46 seconds off the lead. There was a bit of controvesy yesterday as they thought there was a split in the peloton, which meant that Wiggins was given a later time and pushed down to 7th. However, the decision was overruled and his original standing was reinstated.

Cycling is a strange beast when it comes to times, but "Le Tour" is a fantastic event that tests the stamina and fitness of the participants. One of these days I'm going to take my road bike to France and cycle the Alpine stage that is open to the public about a month before Le Tour starts. I'll need to put in plenty of practice though!

My sisters oh and son used to do the London to Brighton ride regularly as well, and I have another couple of friends who did it one year on a tandem....!!

Lets all cheer on Bradley...will try and catch it tommorow and see what they`re all up to.

Did anyone see The Gauntlet on itv last night? don`t think I`d seen it all the way through sinces its release in the late 70s when i saw it at the cinema....couldn`t remember much of it though, apart from the bus bit at the end..... wasn`t that the film where he { Clint Eastwood} got together with Sandra Locke and broke his marriage up for her, she starred in about 6 films with him after that didn`t she... still very watchable though, and probably quite violent for late 70s...

Hi Nicky, no didn't see it as worked a night shift...one to watch on Tuesday afternoon if the weather is crap...Son of Paleface, starring Bob Hope and Jane Russell...BBC2 1.30pm. Should be good for a giggle!!
