Yes I watched Perfect Storm, it's an excellent film.Spectacular effects.The drowning sequence and revival remarkable.

I had thought it was a remake of of an old Spencer Tracy film, but but I was mistakeing it for The Old Man and The Sea

David...glad you enjoyed The Perfect Storm...its in fact based on a true story, did you notice at the end in the closing credits the names of all the Fisherman that have died over the years in that particular area off the East Coast,?................It somehow made the film more poiniant..

Agree Special Effects are amazing.......

Talking Special effects is anyone going to see Inception? its the new Leonardo De Caprio film, they keep showing a trailer for it on TV....looks very good, and though i`m not a big fan of his, I must admit i don`t think he`s ever made a bad film...

Haven't seen Inception Nicky, may rent the DVD

In The Perfect Storm at one stage Clooneys vessel seemed to turn up and ond over and right itself as though it had screwed through the wave.
Catching that shark was a shocker too.

David.......I think Perfect Storm was one of those films that would have been better on a big screen at the Cinema, Inception looks like it could be one of those..............unfortunatley my first viewing of Perfect Storm was on DVD...don`t think you quite get the same impact on an ordinary size screen...

Nicky,in an otherwise excellent film I got the distinct impression it was made in a tank during the helicopter sequences.

Went to see Inception last night..........what an amazing film.......I was absolutely engrossed from the start.

Leonardo Di Caprio is brilliant in it, as are his supporting cast.

If you loved Memento, you`ll love this, but i actually found this a lot easier to understand.

off to see Toy Story 3 next week.......

Hi everyone, does anyone remember the film Tammy with Debbie Reynolds, every time I hear that song it takes me right back to when I was about 7 years old which would be 1957. I remember I loved that film was always singing that song.

I bougt the JUDGEMENT AT NUREMBURG DVD yesterday.Starring Spencer Tracy Burt Lancaster Montgomery Clift. A powerful true story of court room drama. Burt Lancaster plays a German on trial who pleads guilty.

I recall Debbie Reynolds. Wasn't she in Singing in The Rain?

All the old musicals... lovely.
But favourite?
"IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE"
Can't beat it for a Christmas mood.

Watched Judgement at Nuremberg last night.
It's a good film but far too long.
Little dialogue from Burt Lancaster, but when he spoke it was worth hearing.

Looking forward to watching Cape Fear starring Robert Mitchum and Gregory Peck.

Was thinking about films in general.
Used to work all week looking forward to going to the cinema on a Friday or Saturday night to see what ever was on show.
Would even queue in the rain to get in.
Pop corn and ice cream or fruit juice on sale to sustain us.
Bag of chips on the way home.
The cinema was a major part of our weekends.
Now we can watch films all day every day,without leaving the house.

Hmmmm David....

Not so sure about progress.

I still love going to the cinema, that whole big screen thing is a million times better than watching at home, despite the fact a lot of us have quite big screens at home nowadays.

Even as a young child I loved the Cinema.

The Kia -ora orange drink in the plastic container where you had to push the straw through the lid to drink it that the usherette sold, and the lovely Tub ice creams where all part of the package.

Even being shown to your seat by Torchlight...all part of the fun..

I still think the cinema is a very reasonable price, even with the 3D films costing around £9.95 a ticket, and the food and drink not cheap now. its still a couple of hours { or more} of entertainment for less than £10,00 a head.....you trying going in a pub or restaraunt and only spending that much money.

And yes David it was fun queing in the Rain!!!

Hello Everyone :)

Perhaps I'm a bit odd lol, but I've never enjoyed going to the cinema. Always found it a bit too loud. I would much prefer to snuggle down on the sofa and watch a film.

I've just watched 'Enid' and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was impressed by Helena Bonham Carter's portrayal of Enid Blyton. My goodness, what a strange lady she was. It's certainly a film I will watch again. Has anyone else seen it ?

No I havn`t seen Enid..........funny that she was strange when she wrote such brilliant books, my favourite childhood books were the Mallory Towers series,I read them over and over again.

Saw Toy Story 3 last week...very good, and probably going to see The A Team next week.

I've read many of her books too - passed down from previous generations lol. As you enjoyed her books, I think you would find the film Enid a real 'eye-opener'.

My OH loves the Toy Story Films too :) The way in which they are made is so clever.

I thought toy story 3 was actually better thatn TS2....the whole story, the way they put it together, it was even quite sad.........which shows how well it was done when you get teary eyed over Animation!!

and is it my imagination or does Woody actually look a bit like Tom Hanks?

My favourite animated film of all time though has to be Monsters Inc...I`ve heard theres a sequel coming out.......can`t wait.
