Children don't need money to keep them safe, love will do that and no amount of cash will ever be as effective.

I think we would all hope that whatever terminal disease we (or a loved one) had that we would be able to end our lives with dignity, secure in the knowledge that the earliest and best treatment was available to all who came after us, and that our children would not want for money even if they couldn't have us.

In respect of celebrities making us aware of how illness can strike, I think it is a good thing... as my mum had Parkinsons, she and I were grateful that , to name one, Michael J Fox went public with his battle against Parkinsons some years back...it highlighted that it was not just an 'old persons disease' and could therefore be relegated to the back burner in terms of research ..which I tend to think happens with 'diseases of the elderly'....

If it were me in Jade's position, such a young woman with two such young children...I would use any means at my disposal to ensure their future security...and she seems determined that they have the good education that she lacked which can only be a good thing. Had she had a better education herself, there may have been other ways for her to make money now.

I dont' hear anyone slating other celebrities putting their illnesses in the public eye...

I mean people like Terry Pratchett, Kylie Minogue, Michael J Fox, who have all put thier ailments right in the public eye.

And how about others?

The list goes on, but all their illnesses were right in the public glare and they USED it to raise awareness for their own particular illness. If its wrong for Jade to do what she's doing, then you are saying its wrong for all these others to have done it or are continuing to do it.

Very true TW................maybe the making money for her children is the bit that grates with some people, but I am sure the other famous names were/are paid for their stories too.

Terminal illness is a very personal struggle and each person or family will deal with it in different ways.................who are we to judge?

Whats the point in deleting Dizzi, its a good discussion. OK the views might not agree with your own, but its not caused any problems.

I will add one comment.

The one person who will NOT be benefitting from the media interest is the one person at the centre of it. Jade Goodie. Yet she is slated for what she's doing.

I understand where you are coming from Gwen, but it seems a little unfair to criticise Jade for doing the best she can for her children's future.

well my daughters are 14 and almost 12yrs old and it has raised awareness and discussion amongst them and their friends,which can only be a good thing.

She didnt have much herself as a kid, and want's to make sure her kids don't go through the same.including a good education.
I think anyone would do the same..if they could.
I watched part of the wedding...it must have been hell for her family and friends knowing it will soon be over for her.

But Jade's position as TW said is the same as all the other Mum's or Dad's who will sadly be leaving young children behind.

Money will make not a scrap of difference to the grief each and every one of those children will have to endure.

There is no comfort in a bank balnce.................but the love from others left behind to care for them will help them through the rest of their lives.

Which is the first point I made Gwen. If you were in the position Jade is in, and you were able to do that for your kids you would.

Sadly we're not all in that position, and the majority of us will not be able to leave a fortune after we're gone, as much as we would love to. That's life!

I do feel that people are very scared to talk of dying and of cancer and what Jade is doing is really bringing it out into the open.

I just also want to say that I was never a Jade fan to begin with but I do admire what she is doing to raise awareness. My daughter thought it only happened to older people so this has really opened her eyes, and that has to be good.

Hope many of you ladies can say you have felt a lump and was to scared to tell anyone of go to the doctors for fear of what it was, Jade was like ths too in the beginning dont forget, she is only human and doing what she has to do to get through this terrible time. It is a very personal and lonely journey. I too am very angry and very sad by what I have, but you have to make the best of what you have and to be strong for the people around you. I had to travel a long way to go to hospital to have treatment, and now have a nurse that comes in which I have to pay for, but I have no regret's, I have done everything I can for my kids who give me so much strenght to carry on. They know where ever I am they are truly loved.

So see dont be so hard on Jade, you never really know what goes on behind closed doors, what you read in the press is very slanted. And yes I would go to the end of the earth for my kids. We are all going to go one day one way or another.

No need to delete Gwen, it is a good subject to debate. I am sorry for your friends children, it is very sad for them. However I don't think anyone should blame Jade for doing what any Mother would do, that is provide for her children after she has died, I have never had much time for Jade but I do admire the single mindedness with which she has approached the security of her children. And the side effect of this has been the raised awareness of this type of cancer.

Of course you are right Gwen, there should be more money put into researching all cancers and finding a cure for all cancers but the sad thing is there is not enough money for such a large project. maybe by the raised awareness of Jade's cancer, more people will support cancer charities when given the chance and not think it can't happen to them.

Sorry but I fail to see where Diz is attacking Jade?
From what I have read she is simply stating that there are an awful lot of people who find themselves in the same position and that when a cure for Cancer in all its forms is finally found all the pain and heartache this horrific disease causes will finally stop.
Its the ultimate wish and one I,m sure Jade would whole heartedly agree with.

I was a bit sceptical about the media circus and thought it was all a bit over the top, but I saw the poor girl on the news yesterday and seeing how poorly she looked, my heart went out to her.....and to her poor children, after all they're going to lose their mum, they don't understand about her past, to them she's just mum, so if she leaves them a legacy, however it's earned, isn't that what mum's do?

I have nothing but admiration for Jade and I begrudge her nothing. I think she has done a lot, along with other celebrities, to promote screening for cancers.

I am going to be controversial now. I think it has gone far enough and the media should now draw back and let her die with dignity.

I might be burying my head in the sand but I don't want to know about Jade's terrible suffering. It upsets me so much to hear all
the things that are happening to her in minute detail because it brings home to me what could happen to my daughter and I don't want to face that until I absolutely have to.

I would also think that a lot of cancer sufferers would rather face their illness on a daily basis and not know what might happen in a week, a month or a years time. I know I would and do.

This is just my opinion.
