Yes I had the chloroform Persey. I think I would've been about 5. These days they dont take tonsils out unless they really need to. |

Oh dear that sounds awful Perse. Sometimes even today you hear of people who are aware of everything during an operation but can't move to tell anyone. |

I had my tonsils out on my second trip to hospital. Had my 4th birthday whilst there. My memory of that is this wad of stinky stuff clamped over my nose, then as I objected, they must have been holding my legs in place, but I felt that they were sitting on my legs! I have spoken of this over the years, and I always say that I woke up vomiting and my Aunty Florrie was holding the dish under my chin. My mum always corrected me and said "it wasn't Florrie, it was me!" but even to-day, my memory is of the aunt. I have to say, they WERE very similar in looks. |

When I worked at Auckland Hospital (in their Post Office) - the charge nurse on the ENT ward used to have tonsil weekends. She used to get about 10 kids in that were due to have tonsils out and lay mattresses around the day room floor and they would all recover together - play games and swap stories and have a picnic afterwards. It used to work wonders for the kids and the nurses had them all in together and would have a whale of a time. |

Sue with Tec and his collection of cats, we could have no end of those Cat-O'-ninetails. |

Following on those early ear operations, I have very vivid recollections of my mum saying "don't get your ears wet!", so because of this, I never learned to swim - so just don't get any ideas of throwing me over the side when we go on this cruise...please!!!!! |

Oh you silly billy, Berona. I just asked the question about what we can get up to on our cruise. You've just put thoughts in our minds:-))) |

Berona, does that mean that we can't go shark fishing? :0)) |

I think that throwing you over the side will be a bit too drastic. Our liner will of course have one of those state of the art pools which has the current you can swim against. I will get you a bowl of water so you can sit and soak your frrt. Will that do? |
