General Chat

could begin with pointing out the bad stuff, like the blogs, the second third forth oe even fifth wum accounts, and the rows. Or the boring threads that don’t appeal to me like BOO or song lyrics, and the A-Z but I won’t. Just because I yawn at those sorts of threads doesn’t mean others do. As for the rows it always seems tome to get busier when there is a full-blown row happening, people even rejoin to post 1 post and then flounce off again. So no I don’t really think rows count. So that can be crossed off the list. I don’t think new members are chased off by a good row going on, if anything that’s how I started to post on here.

The reason I think its gone so quiet on here is, When I first arrived at GR, a young fresh-faced surfer, back in the day when you couldn’t get up for work the next day because people used to post in to the early hours and you couldn’t bear to go to bed in case you missed anything, I was new to the net. I avoided chat room and still do. The only chat room I used apart from here is FB. I have never been a fan of chat rooms or blogs, but others are. Not only do we have twitter but also others some I cant even remember the names of, its like years ago we had BBC1 & 2 and ITV, we all avid viewers and watched TV now we have more channels and still complain that there is nowt on worth watching. This is what has happened to our beloved GR, all in I think we all have better things to do, this is just my general opinion of course.

Good morning/evening to you Hayley. This is a well thought out thread and I have to say I agree with a lot of what you've said. Most people have busy lives with work and family and as you say there is FB and other social websites. Nothing stays the same.

Hello lovely GR folk.............my reason for having gone quiet these past eight long days was because I was left high and dry by our new Internet provider..............trust OH to decide to change to save a few quid !!!.......now I'm turning myself inside out trying to work out how to set up a new e-mail account and everything...............I could happily throw the pc out of the window at the moment !!

As it's so boring and quiet on here I obviously haven't missed anything much , so all my fretting whilst in excile was for nothing.............lol

I think it's got naff all to do with rows, or people leaving, or anything like that.

I think it's just that people have other things to do, other projects, courses, TV programs, hobbies. Some are preparing for C*******s already, some are on other sites that have forums like this one does.

Over the last week there have been some really good discussions on here, which I have enjoyed taking part in. The biggest turnoff for me is people moaning about how 'bad' the site has got.

Rubbish! Look at the threads for Jean, just to point out the most recent thing that's made this site a proper community. One or two people may come on and do their best to spoil it, but they fail every time.

As for FB....there isn't a chat room on there is there? What I know to be chat rooms are places like Yahoo, where you don't refresh the screen, the chat scrolls up as you watch. I haven't been in chat rooms for donkeys years, too many perverts on them. Discussion forums, where there are threads, in the same manner as here are different altogether.

It was really horrid having a useless computer sitting in the living room being all blank and refusing to connect to the web..........I covered it with a display table cloth eventually..............lol
