this key board I am using was a cheapy..its the mouse I broke before ( taking to bits to clean ) and the key board came with the new mouse, the key board letters has nearly gone and was worn smooth I dont touch type but use a PC at work and I know where all the letters are without looking :-D

Rita, just back from a weekend away. This keyboard is a microsoft 1000.

Perse. I don't have a problem with my font the size is fine.

my keypad gets gummed up with spilt wine......

Ha ha Maggie, mine did too the other week: I turned it upside down on a tea towel and after 2 or 3 days it was perfect! i also have a Samsung phone that was in the washing machine for 1 hr 21 minutes at 50 degrees - I took it all apart and dried it on a radiator and it's good as new! Phew!

But back to keyboards. Mine is an Apple laptop, about 6 years old now and all the letters are still in place, even though I use it a lot. But the base of the keyboard is cracking around the edges: I think a trip to the Apple store might get that sorted.

Speaking of phones. OH plays with buying broken phones on ebay and fixing them, you would be surprised how many people think that the Samsung ones can't be fixed if washed or, in one case, dropped in a cup of tea! Other phones won't always dry out though.

My Samsung is brilliant. I may not be able to check my emails (why would I want to do that when I am out shopping, for instance???)

I was surprised, though, to discover it had survived it's sauna!

I too have a Samsung which suits me fine. The camera is good too if I should happen to be out without a camera.

Well I used acrylic paint to replace some letters and that is flaking off now, despite me going very carefully with the typing.

Peter I understand priming wood. How the devil do I prime tiny computer keys? And what with?

Ann, did you wipe the dodgy keys with white spirit or something to clean off grease first? I think that would help, you could use a cotton bud or a little bit of cotton wool on the end of a toothpick if the letters are indented (is that the word I mean lol)

Liz, I didn't, maybe that is where I went wrong. When I have time (got family coming for the weekend so have to vacate our 'offices' for the children's beds) I will have another go. I shall probably end up buying another keyboard (different make.)

Do Compaq do the sort you want Ann as mine and Caz's are still fine, clearly marked keys. This one must be at least 4 years old or older.

I'll have a look Liz, not seen them, where are they sold? They may be a specific company like C***t etc.

Ann the Compaq are HPs, both my desk top computer and laptop are HP and I have never had any trouble with either, if I got another it would be the same.

Sorry just seen this Ann, no it's not, my desk top is about 11 years old and laptop is about 6/7 I think. You could only look in PC W**ld and see what is new.

We use Logitech wireless - have had several of them.

I recently upgraded my computer so grandson age 4 now has the 'old' Dell. I got him a new kb and mouse for around £18

I had to keep the old one

Recently when I was painting window cills with white gloss he suggested I touched up the old 'eh' so it looked like his new one.

There was a thread recently re keyboard lettering rubbing off. i did add my two pennuth re my Dell keyboard but cant find the thread now.
Anyway when we were in Wiltshire last week I went with my friend to Tesco in Trowbridge,its a huge store with an upstairs and travelators to get upstairs with your trolley that grabs on magnetically when you push it on. We had a good look around and i treated myself to a new keyboard, a Logitech one cos i have a Logitech PC camera and its good . They had keyboards from £7.99!! I paid £14.99 for the Logitech and its very good. multimedia and all that with buttons to access email and home page and to adjust the sound levels. A good buy!

Hope mine stays put then !! lol. My Dell lost lots of letters and was becoming unusable .I.m only a two finger typist anyway and need spellcheck cos get my fingers in a twist without the added aggrow of lost letters. My new one has a USB port because my Dell PC doesnt like wireless connections .
