Annie My brother is on Cebu island all electricity's been turned off according
to the news to stop people being electrocuted by the pylons that are down.
it's a waiting game.
It can't be good for any of them some have nothing left <3

Will your son come home now or stay there and help rebuild if he is anything like my brother stubborn he will stay

The electricity's off on Boracay but some have found a mobile signal so can send out messages. They must be among the lucky ones. My son spent some time in Cebu City a couple of months ago on his travels. He'll stay there now because that's where his job is and, yes, he is stubborn too so nothing I say will make a difference. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks Annie will take a look on Google but he's not in a tourist place so no hotels

Fly I hope your brother is ok and I am glad your news is good, Kuros, altho you will probably always worry about your son as he is so far away. Good that he can fix his home and continue his business as soon as possible, maybe he will be able to help some of those who have lost everything, even in a small way.

It's awful to read that so many people died as well, my thoughts are with their families and friends as they try to pick up the pieces of their lives while mourning their losses.

Fly....Just seen this... I know how worried you must be... My daughter in law is from Cebu...... Her parents got a message out through face book to say they are safe..... Maybe try there.. there may be some info... They added video & photos.... very outside chance you may spot him...( Not a member so no idea how facebook works.) Good luck

My Niece is keeping an eye on Facebook she uses it all the time also been in touch with Home Office but they have no information yet and e-mailed the Red Cross. x

Thank goodness for that, Fly. The main thing is he's all right, it's such a relief. I've had him on my mind all the time. My son managed to phone an hour ago via Skype. We kept losing contact but we did manage to have a sort of conversation. He said the scariest bit was metal doors flying through the air.

His daughter phoned him earlier today after she had got a number from a friend of his she told him how worried she had been and he did not understand why until she told him. Because there is no internet he had no idea of what had happened anywhere else.
They got off lightly in Asturias he lost all his trees and one landed on their house but otherwise they are fine. :-D

I am so glad that your brother is okay, what a worry for you. I have.just been reading about.
it has been reported that it will be worse than the 2004 Asian Tsunami .

All those poor people, they had so little anyway, why does it seem that it is always the poorest people that suffer it is just heartbreaking.
